Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Medical Office Assistant
Verify your credentials match TN requirements
TN classification for Medical/Allied Professionals requires documented training or licensure in your field. Gather your diplomas, certifications, and any provincial or state-equivalent credentials before you apply, so nothing delays the employer's offer letter.
Target clinics with recent visa sponsorship experience
Multi-location medical groups and hospital-affiliated outpatient clinics tend to be more experienced with visa sponsorship processes than solo practices. Employers with a history of sponsoring work visas already understand the support letter requirements and documentation needed for TN status—such as proof of Canadian citizenship or Mexican nationality, educational credentials, and job offer details that meet TN occupational requirements.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Searching for Medical Office Assistant roles at employers experienced with visa sponsorship is faster with a dedicated tool. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with recent visa filings who have demonstrated willingness to sponsor workers, so you're not guessing which clinics will actually consider supporting your application.
Ask employers about E-Verify enrollment upfront
Some states require all healthcare employers to participate in E-Verify. Confirming enrollment before you accept an offer prevents last-minute complications, since your TN authorization must be verified through E-Verify within three days of your start date.
Prepare a precise employer offer letter for CBP
Canadian citizens present their offer letter directly to a CBP officer at the port of entry. The letter must specify your job title, duties, TN category, and full-time status. Vague language about responsibilities is one of the most common reasons CBP requests clarification or delays admission.
Plan Mexican consular appointments around processing timelines
Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate rather than at the border. Consular appointment availability varies significantly by location and season, so submit your DS-160 and schedule your interview as soon as your employer issues the offer letter.

Find Medical Office Assistant JobsMedical Office Assistant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Medical Office Assistant role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, if the position falls under the Medical/Allied Professional category defined by USMCA. The role must involve specialized clinical or administrative support duties tied to recognized medical training or certification. A general receptionist role at a clinic may not qualify, but a credentialed medical office assistant with documented clinical training typically does. Your employer's offer letter must accurately reflect those duties.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Medical Office Assistant positions?
TN is faster and more accessible for this role. There is no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and no requirement to file months in advance. H-1B requires USCIS approval through a competitive random selection process that resets every April. For a Medical Office Assistant who meets TN eligibility, pursuing TN sponsorship avoids the lottery entirely and can result in authorization within days for Canadians at the border.
Where can I find Medical Office Assistant jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface jobs at employers with recent visa filings, so you're not filtering through postings from companies with no experience sponsoring work visas. Standard job boards don't filter by employer sponsorship experience, which makes it difficult to identify which healthcare employers will actually support your TN application for this role.
Can I switch employers on a TN visa while working as a Medical Office Assistant?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to the specific employer named in your admission. You cannot start working for a new clinic or practice until the new employer has issued a qualifying offer letter and you have obtained a new TN authorization, either at a port of entry if you're Canadian or through consular processing if you're Mexican. Working for a different employer before that authorization is in place violates your status.
What should I do if my employer wants to sponsor me but has never filed a TN petition before?
First-time TN sponsoring employers often don't know what the support letter must include or what documentation proves you meet TN requirements for Medical/Allied Professionals. Walk your HR contact through the USCIS TN requirements for Medical/Allied Professionals and confirm that the support letter explicitly states your job title, duties, and TN visa category. Migrate Mate can help you identify whether an employer has prior experience with visa sponsorship before you invest time in an application with a clinic that may back out.
