Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Pre-K Teacher
Verify your degree meets TN requirements
TN sponsorship for Pre-K Teachers requires a baccalaureate degree in education or a directly related field. A degree in psychology or child development may qualify, but a general arts degree without education coursework typically won't. Get a credential evaluation before applying.
Target districts with established sponsorship history
Public school districts and Head Start programs are more likely to have sponsored TN visas before. Privately owned preschool chains often lack the HR infrastructure to navigate USMCA filings, so focus your search on larger institutional employers first.
Search for Pre-K sponsorship jobs on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Pre-K Teacher roles by employers with active TN visa sponsorship history. It removes the guesswork of identifying which districts and early childhood programs are set up to hire internationally credentialed candidates.
Confirm your state teaching license before interviewing
Many states require a state-issued teaching license or Early Childhood Education certification to work in pre-K classrooms, even under TN status. Secure the license before your offer stage, since an unlicensed applicant can't satisfy the TN specialty occupation standard.
Confirm sponsorship support letter requirements with your employer early
Pre-K Teachers should confirm with their prospective employer whether the program receives federal or state funding, as this may affect visa sponsorship eligibility. For TN visa candidates from Canada, employers provide a support letter presented at the U.S. border; Mexican candidates apply through a U.S. consulate with employer documentation. Clarify the sponsorship process directly with your prospective employer before proceeding.
Prepare a degree-to-role connection letter
CBP officers at the port of entry assess whether your degree field matches your Pre-K Teacher duties. A brief employer letter explicitly connecting your baccalaureate coursework to the classroom responsibilities in your offer letter significantly reduces the risk of a secondary review.

Find Pre-K Teacher JobsPre-K Teacher TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Pre-K Teacher role actually qualify for TN status?
Yes, Pre-K Teachers fall under the USMCA Teacher category, which covers early childhood education. The key requirement is a baccalaureate degree in education or a closely related field like child development or early childhood studies. Your job title doesn't need to say 'teacher' exactly, but your duties must center on classroom instruction with young children.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Pre-K Teacher positions?
TN is significantly more practical for Pre-K Teachers than H-1B. There's no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and no multi-month USCIS petition wait. Canadian citizens can get TN status approved at a U.S. port of entry on the day they start, which matters when districts hire close to the school year. H-1B's April lottery makes it nearly unusable for time-sensitive teaching hires.
Will my employer need to do anything to sponsor my TN visa?
Yes. Your employer must provide a job offer letter that confirms your role, duties, required degree, and employment terms. For federally or state-funded pre-K programs, the employer should document your eligibility and employment terms clearly. The employer doesn't petition USCIS directly for TN, but their support letter and documentation are essential for your port-of-entry or consular application.
Where can I find Pre-K Teacher jobs that offer TN sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Pre-K Teacher roles specifically filtered for employers with TN visa sponsorship history, which saves you from reaching out to schools that have never navigated USMCA filings before. Most generic job searches won't surface sponsorship status at all, so using a tool built around visa categories makes the process much more efficient.
Can Mexican citizens get TN status for Pre-K Teacher jobs the same way Canadians can?
No. Mexican citizens can't use the port-of-entry TN process available to Canadians. You'll need to apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate in Mexico before entering the U.S. Appointment wait times vary by consulate and season, so apply as soon as you have a signed offer letter. The documentation requirements are the same, but the process takes longer.
