Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Prosthetist
Verify your certification meets U.S. standards
U.S. employers expect ABC certification or board eligibility from a CAAHEP-accredited program. Canadian credentials from CBCPO and Mexican licenciatura degrees both transfer, but confirm your program meets the baccalaureate equivalency requirement before applying.
Target rehabilitation networks over solo practices
Multi-site O&P companies and hospital rehabilitation systems file TN sponsorship more routinely than independent clinics. Filter your search to employers with existing Canadian or Mexican staff in clinical roles, which signals familiarity with the TN process.
Search TN-ready Prosthetist openings on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Prosthetist roles by employers with active TN visa sponsorship history. Use it to skip outreach to practices that have never navigated USMCA filings and focus on those already set up to support your application.
Ask employers about their TN filing approach upfront
Canadian citizens can present TN documents directly at a port of entry, while Mexican nationals require consular processing. Confirm early whether the employer's HR team understands this distinction, since the timeline and document prep differ significantly.
Prepare a specialty occupation support letter
Your employer's TN support letter must establish that the Prosthetist role requires a baccalaureate-level degree. Include the SOC code, your clinical scope, and how your degree field directly aligns, since CBP officers assess this at the border.
Anticipate state licensure timelines before your start date
Most states require a separate prosthetics license before you can practice independently. Some states process applications in weeks, others take months. Coordinate your TN entry date with your state board application to avoid gaps in your authorization to treat patients.

Find Prosthetist JobsProsthetist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Prosthetist role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes. Prosthetists appear on the USMCA TN professional list under the medical and allied health category. You need a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree in prosthetics, orthotics, or a closely related field, a valid job offer from a U.S. employer, and documentation confirming the role requires that level of education.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Prosthetists?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can apply and enter as soon as you have a qualifying job offer. Mexicans face a separate consular step but still avoid the H-1B lottery. H-1B requires employer petition approval through USCIS before you can work, adding months to the timeline and introducing lottery risk that TN entirely bypasses for this occupation.
What documents does a Prosthetist need for TN sponsorship?
You'll need a valid passport, a detailed employer support letter confirming the role and degree requirement, proof of your baccalaureate or licenciatura degree in prosthetics or a related field, and evidence of professional certification such as ABC board credentials. Canadian citizens present these at a U.S. port of entry, while Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate.
Where can I find Prosthetist jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for roles with TN visa sponsorship support. You can filter Prosthetist openings by employers familiar with USMCA filings, which saves time compared to reaching out to practices that have no prior experience sponsoring TN professionals.
Can I switch employers on a TN visa if I'm already working as a Prosthetist in the U.S.?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to your current employer. To move to a new practice or hospital system, you need a new TN approval tied to the new offer. Canadians can handle this at a port of entry. Mexican nationals need to return to a U.S. consulate. Start the process before your last day to avoid a gap in your work authorization.
