Which companies sponsor visas for investment banking associates in New York?
The most active sponsors for investment banking associates in New York are the bulge-bracket banks: Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Citigroup, and Barclays. Elite boutiques such as Evercore, Lazard, and Centerview Partners also have documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories. Sponsorship is most common at firms with established international recruiting pipelines, particularly those hiring from MBA programs with strong international cohorts.
Which visa types are most common for investment banking associate roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for investment banking associates in New York, as the role typically requires a bachelor's or advanced degree in finance, economics, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation standard. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3 visa, and Canadian or Mexican nationals often qualify under the TN visa. Some associates transition from F-1 OPT while completing MBA programs at nearby universities.
How to find investment banking associate visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters investment banking associate jobs in New York specifically by visa sponsorship history, so you're not sorting through listings from employers who don't sponsor. You can browse roles across bulge-bracket banks, middle-market firms, and boutique advisories that have filed H-1B or E-3 visa petitions for associates. This saves significant time compared to researching each firm's sponsorship track record individually.
Which cities in New York have the most investment banking associate sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the overwhelming majority of investment banking associate sponsorship jobs in New York, with the highest concentration in Midtown (around Park Avenue and Sixth Avenue) and the Financial District near Wall Street. A smaller number of roles exist in areas like White Plains for regional or middle-market firms. For international candidates, Manhattan-based positions represent nearly all available sponsored opportunities in this role.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for investment banking associates pursuing visa sponsorship?
New York investment banking associates typically earn prevailing wages well above H-1B minimums, which means wage compliance is rarely a complicating factor at major banks. However, competition for sponsored associate roles is intense, with most entry points coming through MBA recruiting cycles at schools like Columbia, NYU Stern, and Wharton. International candidates should confirm sponsorship availability before accepting offers, as not all boutique firms have prior USCIS filings on record.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored investment banking associate jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
