Which companies sponsor visas for boilermakers in Texas?
Texas petrochemical and energy employers with documented sponsorship histories for boilermakers include ExxonMobil, Chevron Phillips Chemical, Fluor Corporation, Bechtel, and CB&I. Refineries along the Houston Ship Channel and LNG construction projects on the Gulf Coast generate consistent demand for skilled boilermakers. Sponsorship patterns shift with capital project cycles, so checking recent Labor Condition Application filings through OFLC records gives the most current picture.
Which visa types are most common for boilermaker roles in Texas?
H-2B is the most common visa category for boilermaker roles in Texas, used for temporary or seasonal construction and maintenance work at refineries and power plants. H-1B applies to boilermakers in more specialized engineering-adjacent roles requiring a bachelor's degree, which is less typical for the trade. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa category if the role fits applicable USMCA job classifications.
How to find boilermaker visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate lists boilermaker visa sponsorship jobs filtered specifically to Texas, pulling from employers with active or recent sponsorship filings. You can search by role and state to see which companies are currently hiring and have sponsorship history. Because boilermaker demand in Texas tracks major turnaround and capital project schedules, checking Migrate Mate regularly gives you visibility into openings as they are posted by sponsoring employers.
Which cities in Texas have the most boilermaker sponsorship jobs?
Houston and the surrounding Gulf Coast corridor, including Pasadena, Baytown, and Beaumont, account for the highest concentration of boilermaker sponsorship activity in Texas due to the density of petrochemical refineries and industrial facilities there. Corpus Christi has grown as an LNG construction hub. The Permian Basin cities of Midland and Odessa also generate boilermaker demand tied to oil and gas infrastructure projects.
Are there state-specific considerations for boilermakers seeking visa sponsorship in Texas?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects take-home pay calculations relevant to prevailing wage compliance. Boilermaker roles in Texas fall under DOL wage determinations set by region and job classification. Employers filing H-2B petitions must attest they cannot find qualified U.S. workers and that the work is temporary in nature. Prevailing wage levels for boilermaker positions in Texas can be verified through the OFLC Wage Search tool, and occupational details are available in the O*NET profile for the role.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored boilermaker jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
