THE ROLE
The Tapping Sleeve Utility Operator will manually set up and operate all machines within the 622 work cell to produce quality parts to print specifications with a sense of urgency to meet production demands.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Responsible for the operation, care, minor maintenance and housekeeping for various machines throughout the 622 work cell and related equipment outside of the cell.
- Responsible for downloading programs and teaching all burn sizes on CNC Burn table.
- Responsible for producing quality parts according to required tolerances.
- Responsible for inspecting all stainless steel and mild parts from vendor.
- Must be able to use and apply any standard measuring instruments and/or special production gages to prevent and avoid unnecessary rework or scrap.
- Responsible for maintaining tooling and changing tooling in Mill and other lathes.
- Must be proficient at operations requiring continual eye-hand coordination.
- Must maintain quality and quantity standards.
- Must visually inspect and gage work for quality.
- Keeps work area clean and orderly and maintains proper care of equipment.
- Maintain good communication with production supervisors, machine operators, managers, and other support personnel.
- Must be positive team contributor who works well with all team members.
- Participate in training activities, both on and off site.
- Work safely by following all safety policies, procedures and actively participate in all site safety programs.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
- Six (6) month to one (1) year industrial experience.
- Operator must be able to interpret machine shop drawings and shop route sheets.
- Operator must have the desire and initiative to keep abreast of current technology, whether provided by the Company or sought on own initiative.
DAY IN THE LIFE:
In this role, the working environment is both an indoor climate-controlled office and plant manufacturing environment. The physical demands may include but are not limited to occasionally lifting up to 35 pounds, and prolonged exposure to indoor and outdoor environments.
SALARY:
The hourly pay range for this position is from a starting rate of $xxxx to $xxxx. At Xylem we offer a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, vacation pay based on year’s of service and eleven (11) paid holidays.
