Job Summary
Second Shift Welder (3 pm - 2 am), Monday through Friday
We are seeking a skilled MIG Welder to join our production team in Moody, AL. This role involves operating MIG welding equipment to fabricate, join, and repair metal components primarily used in merchandise displays. The ideal candidate will have experience interpreting technical blueprints, specifications, and schematics to determine the correct welding process and procedures. You will be responsible for ensuring all welded assemblies meet structural integrity standards and follow all safety requirements precisely within a potentially hazardous work environment.
As a valued member of our team, you will prepare materials and set up machines or robotic welding systems, adjust machine settings, and ensure consistent production accuracy through ongoing quality inspections. This role requires a commitment to maintaining production records with attention to detail and effective communication with supervisors in English. The position offers an opportunity to develop your welding skills further and contribute to a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up MIG welding equipment, including loading welding wire and adjusting machine parameters for optimal performance.
- Operate welding machines to join metal parts accurately and efficiently according to job specifications.
- Load and unload welding fixtures, ensuring correct placement and safety throughout the process.
- Perform thorough visual inspections on completed welds to verify quality and structural soundness, using appropriate tools and instrumentation where applicable.
- Maintain detailed, accurate production records utilizing both written labor sheets and computerized systems to track output and quality.
- Adhere strictly to all workplace safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while in the welding area.
- Report to work promptly and maintain consistent attendance to support continuous production workflow.
- Communicate effectively with lead welders and supervisors, providing updates and seeking clarification when necessary to ensure tasks are executed according to standards.
- Participate actively in safety meetings and follow all company guidelines to foster a safe and collaborative work environment.
Job Requirements
- A minimum of six months of hands-on experience operating MIG welding equipment in a production or manufacturing setting is required.
- Proficient in performing basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, utilizing various units of measurement relevant to welding processes.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow work order specifications, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to ensure welding tasks meet design criteria.
- Competent in writing clear and concise sentences as well as accurately recording series of numbers, names, and addresses for reporting purposes.
- Strong verbal communication skills to convey information clearly and collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification is mandatory.
- Basic computer literacy to input and maintain production data and records.
- Experience with TIG welding is advantageous but not required; candidates willing to learn and develop TIG welding skills are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and the ability to comply with all regulatory and company safety standards.
