AI Architect Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ai architect in North Carolina?
There is no state-issued license specifically for ai architects in North Carolina, so the path runs through education and demonstrated technical experience. Most employers in the state expect at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field, with a master's preferred for senior roles. Earning vendor certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud strengthens a North Carolina candidacy, and professionals working with financial institutions may benefit from familiarity with North Carolina's strong banking and fintech ecosystem.
How much do AI architects make in North Carolina?
AI architects in North Carolina earn a median of about $104,850 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $39,190 for the lowest 10% to over $175,660 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ai architects in North Carolina?
Employers hiring ai architects in North Carolina right now include Lenovo, Infosys, and Coca-Cola Consolidated, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. North Carolina's concentration of financial services firms, health systems, and technology companies anchored in the Research Triangle means demand comes from a diverse set of large, established organizations.
Which North Carolina cities have the most ai architect jobs?
Charlotte, Raleigh, and Morrisville account for the most ai architect openings in North Carolina. The Research Triangle cities of Raleigh and Durham drive significant volume because of the density of technology companies, research universities, and life sciences firms in that corridor, while Charlotte's large financial services sector creates consistent demand for architects who can build AI systems at enterprise scale.
Are there remote ai architect jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 86% of ai architect openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the fact that architecture and design work is largely deliverable from anywhere. The parts of the role most commonly done fully remote are system design, model evaluation, and stakeholder documentation, while on-site presence is more likely when integrating AI into regulated or on-premises infrastructure.
How can I get hired as a ai architect in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to move into an ai architect role from a data engineer, machine learning engineer, or cloud infrastructure position, which are roles that several large North Carolina employers use as a pipeline for architect-track candidates. Companies headquartered in the Research Triangle and Charlotte regularly hire for associate ML engineer or junior data scientist roles that include exposure to architectural decision-making. Building a portfolio of deployed model projects and earning a cloud AI certification from AWS or Microsoft Azure gives candidates a concrete edge when applying to those entry-level positions.
Where can I find and apply to ai architect jobs in North Carolina?
You can find and apply to ai architect jobs in North Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that match your experience and apply directly to the ones that fit.
