SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for the development, configuration, implementation, and on-going support of the Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and other supporting IT systems for Penn State Health systems. This role involves working closely with clinical, operational, financial services, and administrative staff to optimize the use of the Epic system, ensuring it meets the needs of the healthcare organization and supports the delivery of high-quality patient care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field or minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Four-Six (4-6) years of experience in the analysis, design, build, testing, and maintenance of Epic EMR or other EMR applications, with a strong understanding of healthcare workflows related to electronic medical record systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
- Knowledge of the various patient scheduling and registration systems at Penn State Health
- Experience with configuring, supporting and monitoring processes for scheduling and registration
- Understanding the entire patient access experience such as template maintenance, various registration workflows, interface transactions feeding downstream systems as well as the overall impact to the entire Revenue Cycle (including charges)
- Previous experience working with scheduling and registration third party vendors
- Epic certification preferred. If not certified, must complete Epic certification as assigned in related application within 6 weeks after last training class.
- Experience with Case Management and/or Utilization Management.
- Certified in Epic Grand Central or Epic Case Management.
