Automation Engineer Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a automation engineer job in Atlanta?
Focus your search on Atlanta's manufacturing base in the Peachtree City and Newnan corridor, the logistics and supply-chain operations anchored near Hartsfield-Jackson, and the life sciences and medtech employers concentrated in the Midtown and Buckhead biotech corridor. Candidates who demonstrate hands-on PLC programming, SCADA experience, or familiarity with automotive and aerospace automation processes stand out in Atlanta's market, where those sectors drive the majority of openings.
Which companies hire automation engineers in Atlanta?
Atlanta automation engineer roles are posted by Capgemini, CBRE, and EXOTEC and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The city's hiring base ranges from global manufacturers and Fortune 500 distributors to growing medtech firms and defense contractors with metro-area facilities.
Are there remote automation engineer jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, though selectively: automation engineering is largely hands-on work tied to physical equipment, so fully remote roles are less common than in purely desk-based disciplines. About 67% of automation engineer openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. The roles most likely to offer remote flexibility are systems integration oversight, controls software development, and project management positions with Atlanta-based manufacturers.
How can I get a automation engineer job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Atlanta is targeting associate controls engineer or automation technician roles at the region's contract manufacturers and third-party logistics providers, many of which run formal rotational programs. Georgia Tech's co-op pipeline and Kennesaw State's engineering technology graduates are recognized locally, giving candidates with internship hours or hands-on lab work a concrete edge. Entry-level candidates who can demonstrate even basic Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC work move faster through screening with Atlanta's industrial employers.
Which industries hire the most automation engineers in Atlanta?
Atlanta automation engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Atlanta's position as a major logistics hub, combined with its cluster of automotive suppliers and growing life sciences sector, makes those industries the consistent drivers of local automation engineering demand.
