JOB SUMMARY: The Cardiac Rehabilitation Registered Nurse plans and provides professional nursing care to the Cardiac Rehab participant from referral to discharge. He/she coordinates the care and education of participant and family with the other members of the Cardiac Rehabilitation team, and collaborates with the attending physician and/or Cardiologist. The Cardiac Rehabilitation RN is responsible for the patients and the ongoing operation of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase II and IV programs at MercyOne Newton.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understands and is able to apply nursing process while meeting established AACVPR guidelines in an outpatient Cardiac program.
- Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English.
- This RN is skilled in meeting the needs of the medically complex adult and geriatric participant.
- Possesses knowledge and understanding of cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation of this patient group.
- Operates a computer effectively.
- Obtains nursing Continuing Education Units appropriate to clinical setting.
- Maintains BCLS Certification at the Health Care Provider level.
- Maintains ACLS Certification.
Education: RN from accredited school of nursing. B.S. degree in nursing or related field preferred. Certification in Cardiac Rehabilitation is ideal.
Experience: At least 1 year in nursing preferred.
LICENSURE: Current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Iowa required.

- Demonstrates professional written and verbal skills.
- Demonstrates professional attitude and interest in work by maintaining acceptable work habits and behavior.
- Demonstrates knowledge and participates in the education of client, family and/or visitors.
- Demonstrates commitment to Customer Service.
EQUIPMENT USED: General exercise and nursing equipment such as, but not limited to:
- Telemetry system and associated computer program.
- Treadmill.
- Stationary Bicycle.
- Recumbent stepper.
- Arm Ergometer.
- Elliptical.
- Stethoscope.
- Pulse oximeter.
- Sphygmomanometer.
- Scales.
- Defibrillator and crash cart/ code blue system.
- Suction machine.
- Oxygen equipment.
- Transport cart.
- Telephone system/intercom.
- Copy machine, fax.
- Cardiac Rehabilitation documentation system, which includes computer-& paper-based reports.
- RPE chart.
- Hospital-wide computer system.

Determined Work Level: Level 2 - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Required walking or standing to a significant degree; or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls.
