Cloud Security Engineer Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a cloud security engineer job in Seattle?
Focus your search on South Lake Union and the Eastside corridor, where cloud hyperscalers, enterprise software firms, and fintech companies concentrate their security teams. Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is the clearest differentiator in this market. Candidates who hold a cloud-specific security certification and can demonstrate production-environment work stand out most with Seattle hiring managers.
Which companies hire cloud security engineers in Seattle?
Companies currently hiring cloud security engineers in Seattle include Amazon Web Services, Goldman Sachs, and Apple, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Seattle's employer mix skews heavily toward cloud-native technology companies and large enterprises running multi-cloud environments, alongside a growing set of financial services and healthcare organizations building out dedicated security engineering teams.
Are there remote cloud security engineer jobs in Seattle?
Yes, though availability varies: cloud security engineering tends to be more remote-friendly than hands-on infrastructure roles, since much of the work involves policy, tooling, and monitoring rather than physical hardware. About 40% of cloud security engineer openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with the most fully remote positions concentrated in security architecture, compliance engineering, and detection and response work.
How can I get a cloud security engineer job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Seattle is through a cloud operations or DevOps role at one of the city's many mid-size SaaS companies, then moving into security engineering once you have environment-specific exposure. Seattle's dense startup ecosystem also hires junior security engineers willing to wear multiple hats. A cloud associate certification from AWS or Azure, combined with a home-lab project demonstrating IAM or SIEM work, gives entry-level candidates a concrete portfolio to reference.
Which industries hire the most cloud security engineers in Seattle?
The sectors hiring the most cloud security engineers in Seattle are Technology & Software, Distribution & Wholesale, and Banking & Financial Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Seattle's position as a global cloud infrastructure hub means technology companies alone generate a disproportionate share of openings, but regulated industries like healthcare and financial services are rapidly expanding their cloud security headcount to meet compliance requirements.
