Tailor your portfolio to fintech UX
Affirm evaluates UX candidates on their ability to simplify complex financial flows. Include case studies showing checkout, lending, or payment experiences where you reduced friction or improved comprehension for users unfamiliar with financial products.
Target roles matching your visa category
Affirm sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT across UX functions, but not every open role gets the same filing priority. Focus your applications on product design and research roles rather than contractor or embedded-team positions, which are less likely to receive sponsorship.
Align your degree field to the specialty occupation standard
USCIS requires H-1B roles to qualify as specialty occupations. For UX at Affirm, a degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or Cognitive Science strengthens your petition more than a general Fine Arts background paired with unrelated coursework.
Start OPT applications before your program ends
If you're on F-1 OPT, USCIS recommends filing your EAD application up to 90 days before your program end date. Affirm's recruiting timelines for UX roles can run six to ten weeks, so initiating both processes in parallel avoids gaps in your work authorization.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open UX roles at Affirm
UX openings at Affirm aren't always labeled consistently across job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for User Experience Design positions at Affirm that include visa sponsorship, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing.
Clarify LCA wage tier expectations before negotiating
Affirm's H-1B filings require a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL, which locks in a prevailing wage level for your location and job title. Understanding which wage tier your offered role falls under before salary negotiations helps you avoid offer adjustments that delay your LCA certification.

Find User Experience Design at Affirm JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for User Experience Designers?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for User Experience Design roles. The process requires Affirm to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then submit a petition to USCIS on your behalf. Sponsorship is typically offered for full-time product design and UX research positions rather than contract or temporary roles.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly use for User Experience Design roles?
Affirm supports H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for User Experience Design positions. F-1 OPT is the most common entry point for recent graduates, with H-1B sponsorship following for full-time hires. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying UX roles.
How do I apply for User Experience Design jobs at Affirm?
You can browse open User Experience Design positions at Affirm through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles that include visa sponsorship. When applying, lead with a portfolio demonstrating financial product or consumer app UX work. Affirm's hiring process typically involves a portfolio review, multiple design exercises, and cross-functional interviews with product and engineering stakeholders.
What qualifications does Affirm expect for User Experience Design roles?
Affirm looks for UX candidates with demonstrated experience designing for complex user flows, particularly in fintech, e-commerce, or consumer finance. A degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or a related field strengthens both your application and any future H-1B petition. Strong research skills and experience collaborating with product and engineering teams are consistently prioritized across UX job postings.
How do I time my application if my OPT or visa status is expiring soon?
If your F-1 OPT is nearing its end date, apply to Affirm UX roles at least three to four months before your authorization expires. H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed for an October 1 start date, so if you miss the April lottery window, USCIS allows OPT STEM extension holders to bridge the gap. Confirm your current I-94 expiration date and OPT end date before starting any application.
