Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Laboratory Jobs at Amgen Jobs
Align your credentials to Amgen's pipeline focus
Amgen's Laboratory roles frequently require experience with biologics, cell culture, or analytical chemistry. Before applying, audit your CV to surface techniques like HPLC, flow cytometry, or mammalian cell assays that match posted job descriptions directly.
Target roles in Amgen's discovery and manufacturing sites
Amgen's U.S. lab hiring concentrates at sites in Thousand Oaks, South San Francisco, and West Greenwich. Filtering your search by these locations surfaces roles with active headcount rather than postings that may be exploratory or on hold.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Laboratory roles at Amgen with confirmed sponsorship
Migrate Mate filters Laboratory postings at Amgen by the visa types the company actually sponsors, so you're applying to roles where your visa category is already on the table rather than finding out after the interview.
Confirm your visa category fits the role's seniority level
E-3 and TN visas require the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, which most scientist and research associate titles at Amgen satisfy. For senior or principal scientist levels, an EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant pathway through PERM may become relevant sooner than you expect.
Prepare for a multi-stage technical screen before sponsorship discussions begin
Amgen's Laboratory hiring typically includes a scientific presentation or bench skills assessment before any offer stage. Having your degree transcripts, publication list, and relevant certifications ready in advance keeps the post-offer visa filing process from stalling.

Does Amgen sponsor H-1B visas for Laboratorys?
Yes, Amgen sponsors H-1B visas for Laboratory roles. The company has a consistent record of filing H-1B petitions for scientific and research positions, which typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as biochemistry, molecular biology, or chemistry. Sponsorship is handled through Amgen's in-house immigration team, and the process generally begins after a formal offer is extended.
How do I apply for Laboratory jobs at Amgen?
Applications go through Amgen's careers portal at amgen.com/careers. Search by function using terms like 'scientist,' 'research associate,' or 'quality control analyst' to surface Laboratory-specific openings. You can also browse Amgen's open Laboratory roles filtered by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate, which makes it straightforward to confirm which positions align with your visa category before you apply.
Which visa types does Amgen commonly use for Laboratory roles?
Amgen sponsors several visa categories for Laboratory positions, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and J-1 for research exchange visitors. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported, which is relevant for international students completing degrees in life sciences. For longer-term pathways, Amgen has filed EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant petitions for laboratory professionals through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Amgen expect for Laboratory roles?
Most Laboratory positions at Amgen require a bachelor's degree in a life sciences field at minimum, with a master's or Ph.D. preferred for research scientist titles. Hands-on experience with techniques relevant to Amgen's biologics focus, such as protein characterization, cell-based assays, or analytical instrumentation, carries significant weight. For senior roles, a publication record or prior industry experience in drug development or GMP environments is commonly expected.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Laboratory hire at Amgen?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B petitions for new hires are subject to the annual cap and lottery, meaning a start date as late as October 1 is typical for most applicants. E-3 and TN visas move faster and can be processed within a few weeks of an offer. If Amgen initiates a PERM-based Green Card process, DOL adjudication alone can take 12 to 18 months before USCIS sees the petition.
