Target roles in R&D and clinical development
Amgen's core sponsorship activity is concentrated in scientific and research functions, think drug discovery, translational medicine, and clinical operations. Focusing your search on these departments puts you where Amgen's sponsorship history is strongest.
Understand which visa types Amgen supports
Amgen sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, J-1, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and Green Card pathways. Knowing which category fits your background before you apply lets you have a more targeted, confident conversation during the interview process.
Highlight your specialty occupation qualifications clearly
For H-1B and E-3 petitions, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation. In your application materials, make the connection between your degree field and the specific scientific function explicit, Amgen's immigration team will need this for the petition.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified Amgen openings
Amgen posts roles across multiple sites, but not all flag sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find Amgen roles that are confirmed to support international candidates.
Plan for a structured hiring and immigration timeline
Amgen's recruitment process for sponsored roles typically moves through multiple interview rounds before an offer is extended. Factor in the immigration review that follows an offer, start early, especially if you're approaching an OPT or grace period deadline.
Australian citizens should ask specifically about the E-3
Amgen sponsors the E-3 visa, which is available exclusively to Australian citizens. If you hold an Australian passport, the E-3 bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and is worth raising directly with Amgen's recruiter or HR team during the process.
