Align your portfolio to Apple's data stack
Apple's data engineering teams work heavily with distributed systems, real-time pipeline orchestration, and proprietary internal tooling. Before applying, document specific experience with systems at that scale so your resume speaks directly to what their hiring panels assess.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsored openings
Apple posts Data Engineering Manager roles across multiple channels, but many don't surface in standard job searches. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified sponsorship-eligible listings filtered specifically for your visa type and target role.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
Apple's specialty occupation petitions with USCIS require a direct tie between your degree field and the engineering management role. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation completed before your recruiter moves to offer stage.
Understand Apple's internal transfer and cap-exempt pathways
If you're already at a cap-exempt institution or a company with an established cap-exempt relationship, an internal transfer or strategic move could let you bypass the H-1B lottery entirely. Confirm your current employer's status with USCIS guidelines before assuming you're cap-subject.
Negotiate your start date around LCA filing timelines
Apple must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. LCA certification typically takes seven business days, but factor that window into your offer negotiation so your proposed start date doesn't create a compliance gap.

Find Data Engineering Manager at Apple JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Data Engineering Managers?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Data Engineering Manager roles. The position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards given the degree requirements in computer science, data engineering, or a related field. Apple has an established legal and HR infrastructure for managing H-1B petitions, so sponsorship for this function is a standard part of their hiring process rather than an exception.
How do I apply for Data Engineering Manager jobs at Apple?
Apply directly through Apple's careers site or find verified sponsorship-eligible openings on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa type so you're not spending time on positions that won't work for your status. Apple's process typically involves a recruiter screen, technical assessments focused on system design and data infrastructure, and behavioral interviews aligned to their leadership values before an offer is extended.
Which visa types does Apple commonly use for Data Engineering Manager roles?
Apple sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for this role, as well as immigrant visa pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term sponsorship. The right category depends on your nationality and current status. Australian citizens can use the E-3, Canadians and Mexicans can qualify under TN, and most other nationalities will go through the H-1B cap process.
What qualifications does Apple expect for Data Engineering Manager candidates?
Apple expects a bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, or a closely related technical field. Beyond credentials, they look for hands-on experience building and scaling distributed data pipelines, team leadership in an engineering context, and familiarity with large-scale data infrastructure. Prior experience at companies managing data at a comparable scale to Apple's product ecosystem strengthens an application considerably.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Data Engineering Manager at Apple?
After an offer is signed, Apple must complete a Labor Condition Application with the DOL (typically seven business days) before filing the H-1B petition with USCIS. Standard processing runs three to six months. Premium processing is available for a fee and reduces USCIS adjudication to 15 business days. If you're changing status from F-1 OPT, plan for your OPT expiration date relative to these timelines to avoid a gap in work authorization.
