Core Responsibilities
- Perform building and materials inspections in accordance with ICC standards and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Review construction plans, specifications, and on-site work (reinforced concrete, masonry, fireproofing) to verify code and safety compliance.
- Document inspection results accurately, prepare detailed reports, and issue correction notices with clear guidance for contractors and project teams.
- Communicate professionally with builders, engineers, municipal authorities, and internal stakeholders to resolve compliance and quality issues.
- Maintain required certifications, training records, safety documentation, timecards, and expense reports in compliance with company standards.
- Support quality assurance efforts, laboratory testing as needed, and field assignments across Pocatello, Idaho Falls, and surrounding areas while upholding Atlas standards.
You’ll thrive here if you have
- ACI Field Grade Level 1 certification, or the ability and commitment to obtain it.
- At least one current certification (WAQTC, Aggregate, Asphalt, In-Place, or Embankment), with willingness to pursue additional certifications such as ACI, ICC, or WAQTC within 60 days of hire.
- Two or more years of hands-on experience in one or more phases of construction and a general understanding of construction practices.
- The ability to read, understand, and consistently follow procedures, standards, and safety requirements.
- A strong safety mindset, including the ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing and maintain OSHA 10 certification.
- The physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in varying conditions.
- A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, proof of insurance, and flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, or travel out of town as needed.
- A professional work ethic, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and grow in the field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with the public, contractors, supervisors, and team members.
- Basic math, writing, and computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), with the discipline to complete accurate field reports, track time and expenses daily, and respond promptly to calls and emails.

Tailor your resume to field-based roles
Atlas Technical Consultants hires Technicians for project-site work in environmental, geotechnical, and construction materials testing. Highlight hands-on lab or field experience prominently. A resume built around office skills won't align with what their hiring managers are screening for.
Confirm your degree supports a specialty occupation
H-1B eligibility for Technician roles depends on whether your position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Degrees in engineering technology, environmental science, or a closely related technical field strengthen that classification. Gather your transcripts and credential evaluations before applying.
Target offices near active project corridors
Atlas operates across regions with heavy infrastructure and environmental remediation activity. Applications routed to offices near active government contracts or construction corridors tend to generate faster movement. Research which Atlas regional offices have posted Technician openings most recently.
Use Migrate Mate to surface sponsorship-friendly openings
Not every Technician posting at Atlas will specify visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter and identify roles where sponsorship has been part of the hiring pattern, so you're applying where your status is already accounted for.
Raise your status early in the offer conversation
Atlas works with TN, OPT, CPT, and H-1B candidates, but their HR teams need lead time to coordinate the filing process. Disclose your visa status and work authorization timeline before the final interview stage so the offer isn't delayed by internal approvals.
Understand the LCA requirement before your start date
For H-1B sponsorship, Atlas must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your offered wage meets prevailing levels for your role and location. This step happens before USCIS petition filing, so build that processing window into your expected start date when negotiating with the hiring team.

Find Technician at Atlas Technical Consultants JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Atlas Technical Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Technicians?
Yes, Atlas Technical Consultants has sponsored H-1B visas for Technician roles. H-1B sponsorship for these positions depends on whether the specific role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria, which typically requires a relevant technical degree. Your offered salary must also meet the prevailing wage level certified through the DOL Labor Condition Application process before USCIS filing begins.
How do I apply for Technician jobs at Atlas Technical Consultants?
You can find Technician openings at Atlas Technical Consultants through their careers page or by using Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles where visa sponsorship is part of the hiring process. When applying, tailor your application to the technical discipline listed, whether environmental, geotechnical, or construction materials testing, and disclose your visa status early so Atlas can assess sponsorship feasibility before extending an offer.
Which visa types does Atlas Technical Consultants commonly use for Technician roles?
Atlas Technical Consultants has worked with H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visa holders for Technician positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates in engineering or environmental science programs. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations. H-1B sponsorship is available for longer-term employment once a qualifying role and degree match are confirmed.
What qualifications does Atlas Technical Consultants expect for Technician positions?
Atlas Technician roles typically require a degree or coursework in engineering technology, environmental science, geology, or a related technical field, depending on the project discipline. Hands-on field or laboratory experience is frequently expected, particularly for roles involving construction materials testing, soil sampling, or site inspection. Industry certifications relevant to the testing discipline can strengthen your application, especially for positions tied to regulated environmental or infrastructure projects.
How do I plan my timeline if Atlas Technical Consultants sponsors my H-1B?
H-1B petitions are subject to an annual lottery with a cap registration window in March each year, and approved petitions have an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT when you receive an offer, your OPT expiration date and any available cap-gap extension will determine how continuous your work authorization is between filing and approval. Align your offer negotiation and expected start date with these USCIS processing windows to avoid gaps.
