Job Description
At Atlas, we're providing services that enable communities to flourish and thrive. If you’re looking for an Environmental Scientist role, ready to assist in the management of subsurface investigation projects and committed to doing meaningful work, then this is your moment. You’ll provide support across the full lifecycle of subsurface environmental investigation projects—managing operations, executing technical work, developing clients, preparing compliant reports, collaborating with teams and partners, promoting safety and quality, and modeling Atlas core values.
Join a dynamic, value-driven, client- and community-focused environment where your work creates a lasting positive impact for the people and communities we serve.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist in the management of day-to-day operations for subsurface investigation projects throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin including all aspects of the project life cycle such as proposal generation, technical execution, leading a team, reporting, and invoicing.
- Execute project work appropriate for experience level related to due diligence, site investigation and characterization, remediation, and related environmental consulting areas.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to develop new clients and expand services provided to existing clients.
- Actively participate in professional and technical organizations appropriate for core skill set and client needs.
- Prepare reports by assisting with data compilation, reduction, interpretation, evaluation, and comparison to state and/or federal environmental regulatory standards.
- Positively interact with internal and external clients, service partners, and contractors.
- Promote a safety-first culture that values proactive measures and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other team members toward a common goal of providing client-centric services with high quality interactions and deliverables.
- Embrace and model the Atlas core values including trust, mastery, heart, and life.
You’ll thrive here if you have
- Experience with implementation and supervision of health and safety requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- The ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, solve problems using sound scientific judgment, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, and maintain strong time management and attention to detail while working independently or as part of a team.
- The ability to pass drug screen and motor vehicle background check.
- The ability to lift 50 lbs.
- The ability to learn standard environmental field methods through on-the-job training, accurately document field observations, and follow instructions from senior staff for sampling, equipment use, and site procedures.
- Basic understanding of environmental science concepts from coursework (soil, groundwater, geology), with all task-specific training provided.
- The ability to use Microsoft Office for entering data, organizing photos, and supporting simple report components.
- The ability to progress toward independently conducting routine groundwater monitoring or drilling oversight events within the first several months.
- Willingness to perform a mix of field and office work, with the balance varying by season and workload.
- The ability to travel for both local day-trips and occasional out-of-town field events. Overnight travel varies by season and project workload, but typically occurs 1 to 2 times per month, with most overnight stays lasting 1 to 2 nights.
- Dependability, punctuality, and a positive attitude toward growth and long-term development within the department.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Align your credentials to technical consulting disciplines
Atlas Technical Consultants focuses on infrastructure, environmental, and engineering consulting. Frame your resume around project-based technical work in these areas. Generalist consulting experience is a harder sell than domain-specific expertise tied to their service lines.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Consultant roles
Atlas Technical Consultants posts Consultant openings across multiple locations and disciplines. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for their visa-sponsored Consultant positions so you're targeting roles where sponsorship is already on the table.
Request H-1B cap-exempt clarification early
Consulting firms occasionally place staff at cap-exempt institutions like universities or nonprofits. Ask the recruiter early whether any of their Consultant engagements qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filing, which bypasses the annual lottery entirely.
Time your OPT application around their hiring cycle
Atlas Technical Consultants staffs Consultant roles on a rolling basis tied to project pipelines. Apply for your F-1 OPT authorization from USCIS at least 90 days before your start date so your Employment Authorization Document is in hand before onboarding.
Prepare a specialty occupation justification for your role
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions for Consultant titles because they can appear broad. Work with the employer's immigration counsel to document that your specific engagements require a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related technical field.

Find Consultant at Atlas Technical Consultants JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Atlas Technical Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Consultants?
Yes, Atlas Technical Consultants has sponsored H-1B visas for Consultant roles. Because H-1B sponsorship for consulting positions requires demonstrating a specialty occupation, your application is strongest when your role is tied to a specific technical discipline like environmental science, civil engineering, or a related field, rather than generalist advisory work.
Which visa types are commonly used for Consultant roles at Atlas Technical Consultants?
Atlas Technical Consultants has sponsored H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT visas for Consultant positions. TN is a practical option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical professions. F-1 OPT and CPT work well for recent graduates entering consulting roles before H-1B sponsorship becomes available.
How do I apply for Consultant jobs at Atlas Technical Consultants?
You can browse open Consultant positions at Atlas Technical Consultants through Migrate Mate, which surfaces their visa-sponsored roles in one place. When applying, tailor your materials to their infrastructure and engineering consulting focus and clearly indicate your visa status so recruiters can assess sponsorship fit from the start.
What qualifications does Atlas Technical Consultants expect for Consultant roles?
Atlas Technical Consultants generally looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field such as civil engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline. Practical project experience in infrastructure or professional services consulting strengthens your candidacy, and holding relevant professional licenses adds further weight to your application.
How do I plan my timeline if I need visa sponsorship for a Consultant role at Atlas Technical Consultants?
If you're targeting H-1B sponsorship, the employer must file your petition before the April 1 USCIS deadline for an October 1 start date, so you need an offer in place by early March at the latest. For F-1 OPT, request your Employment Authorization Document from USCIS at least 90 days before your intended start date to avoid gaps in work authorization.
