The Role:
Performs general duties in the Office of Disability Services. Responsible for providing direction and counsel to supervisors, faculty, staff, and students on disability and reasonable accommodation issues. Plans and carries out work independently and with minimum supervision, utilizing knowledge of current relevant laws, policies, and regulations. Responsible for prioritizing and managing issues within designated area of responsibility. Evaluates documentation from health-care providers, conducts interactive interviews and prepares and monitors individualized reasonable accommodation plans. All employees are expected to uphold and contribute to CWU's vision, mission, and values, fostering a culture of student success and institutional excellence. This position supports the institution's vision, mission, and values by ensuring equal access to university life for students with disabilities.
Job Duties
Student Support/Casework:
- Determine student eligibility for accommodations based on documentation and the interactive process regarding classroom, housing, dining, and campus life activities.
- Consult students and third-party providers about reasonable accommodations on a case-by-case basis.
- Coordinate assistive technology, texts in alternative formats, and other aides as needed in order to provide individualized accommodations for students.
- Provide ongoing support for students through check-in meetings as needed.
- Advise prospective students regarding academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, access technologies, academic strategies, financial resources, departmental and university procedures, and availability of disability-related support.
- Help maintain a database system for monitoring and reporting on the number of students with disabilities, their needs and effectiveness of service delivery for program improvement purposes.
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping and confidentiality for program activities and participants.
- Complete thorough case notes of interactions in a timely manner.
Internal/External Collaboration & Education:
- Educate faculty of academic accommodations, compliance with legal responsibilities, as well as instructional, programmatic, or curriculum modifications.
- Serve as Disability Services representative on assigned committees.
- Develop strategies, facilitates outreach to, and collaborates with other departments to assist "at risk" students in support of CWU retention efforts.
- Collaborate with other units and departments in development of programs, activities, and events.
- Assist in developing and/or conducting presentations and workshops regarding reasonable accommodation rules, policies, and procedures as well as other disability related areas.
- Participate in disability related training, conferences, and legal workshops.
- Remain current on legal decisions, rulings, and laws pertaining to OCR findings and other disability related case law.
Institutional Support:
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to comply with University policies, federal and state law, and to meet institutional needs.
- Connect institutional and departmental data in decision making and promotion of strategic mission.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience working with diverse population and groups.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary: The Hiring Department's expected hiring range is $41,184 - $52,167 annually. Individual placement within the hiring range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the full annual salary range for this position is $41,184 to $57,658.
Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch) / Hours may vary
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
