Understand the firm's global hiring approach
As a Magic Circle firm, Clifford Chance regularly recruits internationally and is familiar with complex visa processes. Emphasizing your cross-border legal experience or international client exposure can strengthen your candidacy considerably.
Australian lawyers should highlight E-3 eligibility
Clifford Chance has sponsored E-3 visas for Australian nationals. If you hold Australian citizenship, flag your E-3 eligibility early, it simplifies the sponsorship process for the firm and can accelerate hiring decisions.
Focus on high-demand practice groups
Clifford Chance's corporate, finance, and capital markets practices drive significant international hiring. Targeting these groups improves your chances of securing a role where the firm has an established pattern of sponsoring visa holders.
Engage through lateral and campus recruiting channels
Clifford Chance recruits both laterally and through structured campus programs. Summer associate and law school pathways can lead to sponsored full-time offers, particularly for candidates in transactional and cross-border practice areas.
Browse verified sponsorship opportunities on Migrate Mate
Clifford Chance's sponsorship history is verifiable through public filings. Migrate Mate surfaces confirmed sponsors so you can filter by visa type and industry, making it easier to identify current openings at firms with a real track record.

Find Clifford Chance JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Clifford Chance sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Clifford Chance sponsors H-1B visas for qualified professionals. The firm has a consistent record of filing H-1B petitions, primarily for associate attorneys and specialist roles across its U.S. offices. Given its standing as a global Magic Circle firm with substantial cross-border work, H-1B sponsorship is a standard part of its international hiring process.
Which visa types does Clifford Chance sponsor?
Clifford Chance sponsors both H-1B and E-3 visas in the United States. The H-1B covers the broadest range of nationalities, while the E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens. If you hold Australian citizenship, the E-3 can be a faster and more straightforward path, and Clifford Chance has demonstrated willingness to use it.
Which roles or departments at Clifford Chance are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Clifford Chance is concentrated in its core legal practice groups, particularly corporate, finance, capital markets, and restructuring. These transactional areas attract the most international talent and have the strongest hiring patterns for sponsored roles. Business services and support functions are less commonly sponsored, though exceptions exist for highly specialized positions.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at Clifford Chance?
Migrate Mate lists open roles at verified visa sponsors, including Clifford Chance, so you can filter specifically for H-1B and E-3 opportunities without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. Search by firm name or practice area to see current openings alongside Clifford Chance's confirmed sponsorship history, which helps you apply with confidence rather than guessing at their policies.
How do I approach the application process at Clifford Chance as a visa-sponsored candidate?
Be transparent about your visa requirements early in the process. Clifford Chance is experienced with international hires and understands the sponsorship process well, so there's no need to obscure your status. Tailor your application to highlight cross-border legal skills, international client work, or multilingual abilities. For E-3 applicants, stating your Australian citizenship upfront signals a simpler sponsorship path for the firm's HR team.
