This role reports to the HR Communications leader with close connection to the Executive Director of TD Insights, Innovation & Integration.
This position manages the sustained change narrative for Cummins' evolving talent development approach, connecting disparate strategic initiatives into coherent stories that build understanding over time. - Creative Communication Design - Presents information from a variety of sources in a compelling message through storytelling to engage target audiences; applies the appropriate tools and media types to create effective, high-quality visual and experiential media.
- Data Analytics - Discovers, interprets and communicates qualitative and quantitative data; determines conclusions relying on knowledge of business or functional frameworks; simultaneously applies statistics, data validity, data visualization, and problem-solving approaches to effectively extract meaningful patterns and business insights; presents conclusions and outcomes that enable data driven business decisions.
- Digital media savvy - Leverages current and emerging digital media strategies (e.g., email automation, social media, content management systems, etc.) to influence employee behavior or target audiences to a desired action.
- Intuitive Listening and Adapting Solutions - Translates needs, expectations, or asks from customers, stakeholders, etc. into actionable solutions through active listening and intuition; chooses or produces solutions (e.g., process change, tool, product, service, etc.) to meet or exceed the customers’ or stakeholders’ needs or expectations or to provide value.
- Organizational savvy - Maneuvering comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics.
- Persuades - Using compelling arguments to gain the support and commitment of others.
- Decision quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.
- Manages complexity - Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
- Develops talent - Developing people to meet both their career goals and the organization’s goals.

Frame your portfolio around industrial storytelling
Cummins communicators support complex manufacturing narratives, including sustainability reporting, workforce initiatives, and technical product launches. Showcase writing samples or campaigns where you translated technical or operational content for non-specialist audiences, not just brand or consumer work.
Distinguish between visa types before applying
Cummins sponsors multiple visa categories including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. If you're approaching your OPT expiration, confirm whether the role qualifies for STEM OPT extension, since Communications degrees without a STEM designation may limit your runway to 12 months.
Target roles tied to global or regional functions
Cummins operates across dozens of countries and its Communications team supports both corporate headquarters and regional business units. Roles scoped to global or cross-regional responsibilities are more likely to trigger international hire protocols and active visa sponsorship discussions during the offer stage.
Initiate the sponsorship conversation after a verbal offer
Raise visa sponsorship needs after you receive a verbal offer, not during early screening. At that point, Cummins HR will engage their immigration counsel to assess your category, timeline, and USCIS filing window before a written offer is finalized.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified Communications openings
Search for Communications roles at Cummins that are confirmed as open to visa sponsorship using Migrate Mate. Filtering by role function and visa type saves you from applying to positions where sponsorship isn't available before your status situation becomes urgent.
Align your timeline with the H-1B cap season
If you need an H-1B and aren't currently in H-1B status, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Work backward from that date when targeting Cummins Communications roles so your offer and petition filing align with the cap window.

Find Communications at Cummins JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Cummins sponsor H-1B visas for Communications roles?
Yes, Cummins sponsors H-1B visas for Communications positions. The role needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which generally means a requirement of at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as communications, journalism, or public relations. Cummins works with immigration counsel to handle the petition process once an offer is in place.
How do I apply for Communications jobs at Cummins?
Applications go through Cummins' careers portal. If you need visa sponsorship, the most efficient approach is to identify openings that are already confirmed as sponsorship-eligible before applying. Migrate Mate filters Cummins Communications roles by visa type, so you can focus your applications where your immigration situation is actually a fit rather than discovering a mismatch late in the process.
Which visa types does Cummins commonly sponsor for Communications positions?
Cummins sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, J-1, and employment-based Green Card categories including EB-2 and EB-3 for Communications roles. The TN visa is available only to Canadian and Mexican nationals under the USMCA agreement. For longer-term sponsorship, Cummins has a track record of supporting Green Card processes through PERM labor certification for retained employees.
What qualifications does Cummins expect for Communications roles requiring sponsorship?
Cummins typically looks for a bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a closely related field for roles where H-1B sponsorship applies. Beyond credentials, the team values experience in corporate or internal communications, particularly in environments with technical subject matter. Proficiency in content strategy, stakeholder messaging, and media relations are common expectations depending on the specific function.
What is the realistic timeline for getting sponsored at Cummins in a Communications role?
If you're on F-1 OPT, you can start immediately while Cummins files an H-1B registration during the March window for an October 1 start. From offer to approved H-1B petition, expect four to six months without premium processing, or two to three weeks with it. Green Card timelines through PERM are longer, often two to three years or more depending on your country of birth and priority date.
