Align Your Experience to Manufacturing Operations
Cummins prioritizes Business Operations candidates with direct exposure to manufacturing environments, supply chain coordination, or industrial procurement. Frame your resume around metrics like inventory efficiency, cost reduction, or process improvement rather than general business support.
Verify Your OPT Timeline Before Applying
If you're on F-1 OPT, calculate your remaining authorization window before your first interview. Cummins' hiring cycle for Business Operations roles can run eight to twelve weeks, so a late-stage start with under three months remaining on your OPT creates real risk.
Target Roles in Established Business Units
Cummins sponsors most consistently through its core segments like Components, Power Systems, and Distribution. Business Operations roles attached to these units tend to have deeper HR infrastructure and faster internal approval for sponsorship decisions than newer or restructured divisions.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Sponsorship-Confirmed Openings
Filter Business Operations roles at Cummins by visa type on Migrate Mate before applying. This lets you prioritize positions where Cummins has an active sponsorship history, rather than applying broadly and discovering sponsorship isn't available late in the process.
Prepare DOL Prevailing Wage Documentation Early
For H-1B transfers or new petitions, Cummins' HR team will conduct a prevailing wage determination through DOL. Research the wage level for your specific Business Operations title and geographic work location before negotiations so you can assess offer competitiveness accurately.

Find Business Operations at Cummins JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Cummins sponsor H-1B visas for Business Operations?
Yes, Cummins sponsors H-1B visas for Business Operations roles. The company has an active sponsorship program that covers both new H-1B cap-subject petitions and transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status. Sponsorship eligibility depends on the specific role, business unit, and whether the position meets USCIS specialty occupation requirements for the operations function involved.
How do I apply for Business Operations jobs at Cummins?
Apply directly through Cummins' careers portal, where Business Operations roles are listed by function and location. Before applying, confirm the role aligns with your visa status or that Cummins has indicated sponsorship availability. Migrate Mate lets you browse Cummins Business Operations openings filtered by visa type, which helps you identify the right positions before submitting your application.
Which visa types does Cummins commonly use for Business Operations roles?
Cummins uses H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Business Operations positions. H-1B is the most common route for long-term sponsorship. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. OPT and CPT are typically used for entry-level or intern-track positions within the operations function.
What qualifications does Cummins expect for Business Operations candidates seeking sponsorship?
Cummins generally looks for a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, industrial engineering, or a related field. For H-1B sponsorship, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which means the degree requirement must be specific to the position. Candidates with experience in manufacturing environments, ERP systems like SAP, or cross-functional project coordination are consistently competitive.
How do I plan my timeline if Cummins is sponsoring my H-1B for a Business Operations role?
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date, following USCIS lottery registration in March. If you're transferring an existing H-1B to Cummins, you can start work once the transfer petition is filed, not when it's approved. Build in time for Cummins' internal approval process alongside USCIS processing, which can run three to six months without premium processing.
