Align your credentials to manufacturing operations standards
Cummins Operations roles often require demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or production systems. Certifications like APICS CPIM or a Six Sigma Green Belt strengthen your profile before you apply and signal readiness for plant-floor leadership.
Target plant locations with active hiring cycles
Cummins operates facilities across the Midwest and Southeast where Operations headcount tends to grow. Filtering your search by location lets you identify sites with open requisitions and match your experience to specific production environments rather than applying broadly.
Use Migrate Mate to find Cummins Operations roles that sponsor visas
Not every Operations posting at Cummins explicitly flags sponsorship eligibility. Browse Migrate Mate to surface roles verified for visa support, so you're applying to positions where your sponsorship needs are already accounted for.
Understand how TN status applies to your role
Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Operations or engineering management roles may be eligible for TN status, which doesn't require an employer petition waiting period. Confirm that your specific job title maps to a DOL-recognized TN occupation category before accepting an offer.
Request H-1B filing timelines early in the offer process
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. If you're graduating or changing status, confirm with your Cummins recruiter whether they'll file in the upcoming registration window so your start date aligns with your current status expiration.
Prepare for PERM if you're planning a Green Card path
Cummins supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card filings for Operations employees, but PERM labor certification through DOL requires your employer to document recruitment efforts. Raise long-term sponsorship intent during offer negotiations, not after your first performance review.

Find Operations at Cummins JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Cummins sponsor H-1B visas for Operations roles?
Yes, Cummins sponsors H-1B visas for Operations positions that qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, typically roles requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, supply chain, or a related field. Sponsorship is handled by Cummins directly, and the company participates in the annual H-1B registration process each spring for cap-subject cases.
How do I apply for Operations jobs at Cummins?
Applications go through the Cummins careers portal. Search by function or facility location and apply directly to open Operations requisitions. To find roles already verified for visa sponsorship, browse Migrate Mate, which surfaces Cummins Operations positions where sponsorship support has been confirmed, saving you from applying to roles where your visa situation would be a barrier.
Which visa types does Cummins commonly use for Operations hires?
Cummins uses H-1B for most Operations professionals requiring specialty occupation status, F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates, TN for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles, and J-1 for internship or training placements. For longer-term employees, Cummins also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Cummins expect for sponsored Operations roles?
Most Operations roles at Cummins that receive visa sponsorship require at minimum a bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, industrial engineering, or supply chain. Practical experience with lean methodologies, ERP systems such as SAP, and production floor environments is frequently expected. Senior roles may require prior supervisory or plant management experience in a manufacturing setting.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Cummins Operations role?
Timeline depends on visa type. F-1 OPT authorization through USCIS takes up to 90 days, so apply early. H-1B cap cases follow a fixed annual cycle with an October 1 start date. TN status for Canadian citizens can be obtained at a port of entry on the same day as your start date. PERM-based Green Card cases typically run 18 to 36 months from initiation to approval.
