Target engineering and technical roles first
Cummins's sponsorship activity is concentrated in engineering, R&D, and technical functions. Roles in mechanical, electrical, and software engineering have the strongest track record for visa support across H-1B and Green Card pathways.
Understand that manufacturing sponsorship can move slowly
Large manufacturing companies like Cummins often run structured hiring cycles tied to business units and budgets. Apply early, follow up professionally, and expect a longer decision window than you'd see at a tech startup.
Prepare for both H-1B and Green Card conversations
Cummins has a strong track record sponsoring both temporary and permanent residency pathways. Asking about long-term immigration support during interviews signals commitment and is well-received at companies with established sponsorship programs.
Highlight specialized technical expertise in your application
Cummins competes globally for power technology talent. Applications that clearly demonstrate specialized skills in areas like emissions, electrification, or fuel systems align with the company's core business and strengthen the case for sponsorship.
Use F-1 OPT or CPT as a pathway into full sponsorship
Cummins participates in F-1 OPT and CPT programs, which often serve as entry points to full-time roles with H-1B sponsorship. Internship and co-op positions can be a strategic starting point for international students.
Browse verified Cummins openings before applying
Not every posted role comes with confirmed sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus your time on Cummins roles that have a genuine track record of supporting international hires.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cummins sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Cummins sponsors H-1B visas and is one of the more active sponsors in the manufacturing sector. Sponsorship is most common in engineering, product development, and technical specialist roles. If you're targeting Cummins, focus your search on positions that require a specific technical degree, those are the roles that most consistently receive H-1B support.
Which visa types does Cummins sponsor?
Cummins sponsors a range of visa types including H-1B, Green Card (EB-2 and EB-3), F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visa. This breadth makes Cummins a strong option whether you're a recent graduate on OPT, a skilled worker seeking H-1B sponsorship, or a Canadian or Mexican national eligible for a TN visa.
Which departments or roles at Cummins are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Cummins is most common in engineering and technical functions, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software development, and emissions or electrification research. Corporate functions such as finance and supply chain also see some sponsorship activity, but the highest concentration is in roles that require specialized technical degrees directly tied to Cummins's core products.
How do I find visa-sponsored jobs at Cummins?
The most reliable approach is to search specifically for roles where sponsorship has been verified through actual filing history rather than relying on job descriptions alone. Migrate Mate lets you browse open positions at Cummins filtered by real sponsorship data, so you can quickly identify which roles have a genuine track record of supporting international candidates rather than guessing from a job posting.
How do I improve my chances of getting sponsored by Cummins?
Aligning your background with Cummins's core business areas, power technology, electrification, emissions control, and industrial manufacturing, significantly strengthens your candidacy. Demonstrating specialized technical skills that are difficult to source domestically makes the sponsorship case easier for the company to make internally. If you're an F-1 student, pursuing a Cummins internship or co-op through OPT or CPT is one of the most reliable paths to a sponsored full-time offer.
