Align Your Credentials to Cloud Infrastructure Work
DigitalOcean hires Engineering Technicians to support scalable cloud products, so certifications in Linux administration, networking, or cloud platforms like AWS or GCP strengthen your profile alongside any degree. Document these before applying.
Find Open Engineering Technician Listings on Migrate Mate
Search Migrate Mate to filter DigitalOcean's Engineering Technician openings by visa type. This lets you surface roles where sponsorship is explicitly supported rather than cold-applying and learning late in the process that a position is ineligible.
Prepare for a Technical Screen Covering Infrastructure Fundamentals
DigitalOcean's Engineering Technician interviews typically include hands-on assessments around networking, virtualization, or API troubleshooting. Practice these areas specifically rather than broad software engineering prep to clear early screening rounds.
Confirm H-1B Cap Timing Before Accepting an Offer
If you need an H-1B, USCIS only accepts cap-subject petitions in April for an October 1 start. Get written clarity from DigitalOcean's HR team on whether they'll file in the next lottery cycle before committing to a start date.

Find Engineering Technician at DigitalOcean JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does DigitalOcean sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Technicians?
Yes, DigitalOcean sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying technical roles, including Engineering Technicians. The H-1B requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field is typically needed. Because H-1B cap-subject filings only begin in April, you'll want to confirm timing with DigitalOcean's HR team before accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Engineering Technician jobs at DigitalOcean?
You can find and filter open Engineering Technician positions at DigitalOcean through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles by visa type so you're not guessing about sponsorship eligibility. Once you identify a match, apply directly through DigitalOcean's careers portal. Flag your visa status in the application or early in your recruiter screen to avoid delays later in the process.
Which visa types does DigitalOcean commonly use for Engineering Technician roles?
DigitalOcean sponsors Engineering Technicians across several visa categories, including H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and employment-based Green Cards at the EB-2 and EB-3 levels. TN visas are available only to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates before transitioning to a longer-term sponsored status.
What qualifications does DigitalOcean expect for Engineering Technician candidates?
DigitalOcean's Engineering Technician roles generally require a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field, along with hands-on experience in areas like cloud infrastructure, networking, or systems administration. Practical certifications in Linux, virtualization, or cloud platforms are often weighted alongside formal degrees, particularly for candidates applying for H-1B or EB-category sponsorship.
How do I understand the visa filing timeline if DigitalOcean extends me an offer?
The timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B cap filings happen once a year, with USCIS accepting petitions in April for an October 1 start date. TN status can be obtained at a port of entry with a same-day turnaround for eligible nationals. PERM-based Green Card filings through DOL typically take 12 to 18 months before USCIS even receives the immigrant petition, so clarify DigitalOcean's standard process at the offer stage.
