Get Your Licensure Paperwork in Order Early
Massachusetts requires licensed mental health counselors to hold an LMHC or equivalent credential. Start the state licensure verification process before you apply, because Eliot will expect clinical eligibility as a baseline before initiating any visa filing.
Target Roles That Match Your Clinical Specialty
Eliot runs programs across adult outpatient, school-based, and crisis services. Applying to a program that aligns with your supervised hours and population experience strengthens your case, since specialty fit directly affects how quickly HR moves a candidate toward sponsorship.
Ask HR Directly About Their Sponsorship Process
During your first recruiter screen, ask which visa types the team has filed for Mental Health Counseling roles specifically. This surfaces whether your visa category is familiar to their HR and legal team, or whether you'll need to educate them.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Active Mental Health Openings
Eliot posts Mental Health Counseling roles across multiple programs at different times. Use Migrate Mate to filter for open positions that include visa sponsorship, so you're applying to roles already confirmed as sponsorship-eligible rather than cold-applying and hoping.
Request a Clear Sponsorship Commitment in Your Offer Letter
Before you resign from another position or let your OPT run down, confirm in writing that Eliot will file your petition and cover filing fees. DOL and USCIS filings take time, and verbal commitments don't protect you if priorities shift internally.

Find Mental Health Counseling at Eliot Community Human Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Eliot Community Human Services sponsor H-1B visas for Mental Health Counselings?
Yes, Eliot Community Human Services does sponsor H-1B visas for Mental Health Counseling roles. Mental Health Counseling qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, given the degree and licensure requirements for the role. Your employer handles the H-1B petition filing, but you'll need an active Massachusetts LMHC license or verified eligibility to obtain one before they can proceed.
Which visa types are commonly used for Mental Health Counseling roles at Eliot Community Human Services?
Eliot sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, EB-2, and EB-3 visas for Mental Health Counseling positions. F-1 OPT is the most common entry point for recent graduates, with H-1B as the natural next step. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose counseling credentials meet DOL's qualifying occupation list. EB-2 and EB-3 support longer-term permanent residency pathways.
What qualifications does Eliot Community Human Services expect for Mental Health Counseling roles?
Eliot typically requires a master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related clinical field. Candidates are expected to hold or be eligible for Massachusetts licensure as an LMHC or LICSW. Prior supervised clinical hours in community mental health, school-based services, or crisis intervention strengthen your application significantly. Bilingual candidates, particularly Spanish speakers, are consistently prioritized across Eliot's program areas.
How do I apply for Mental Health Counseling jobs at Eliot Community Human Services?
Browse open Mental Health Counseling positions at Eliot Community Human Services on Migrate Mate, where listings are filtered for roles that include visa sponsorship. Apply directly through Eliot's careers portal with a resume tailored to the specific program area. Confirm during the recruiter screen that your visa type is supported before advancing through multiple interview rounds.
How do I time my application around visa filing deadlines for a Mental Health Counseling role at Eliot?
If you're on F-1 OPT, aim to have an offer in hand by January or February so your employer can register you in the H-1B lottery before the March deadline. OPT STEM extensions give you up to 24 additional months of runway if your degree qualifies. For TN or EB-3 pathways, there's no lottery, but PERM labor certification for EB-3 can take 12 to 18 months, so start those conversations early.
