Verify your licensure transfers across states
Woods Services operates in Pennsylvania, so confirm your mental health counseling license is valid or transferable there before applying. Some OPT and TN holders discover mid-process that their home-state credentials don't satisfy Pennsylvania's LPC or LMHC requirements.
Target roles matching your clinical specialty
Woods Services serves populations with intellectual and developmental disabilities alongside behavioral health needs. Aligning your application to that specialty, rather than general outpatient counseling experience, signals fit and increases your chances of clearing the initial screening.
Ask HR about the H-1B filing calendar upfront
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer outside that window, ask whether Woods Services will support a cap-exempt filing through an affiliated nonprofit or research entity to avoid waiting a full year.
Use Migrate Mate to track open counseling roles
Woods Services posts Mental Health Counseling positions across multiple platforms at different times. Search Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa sponsorship type so you apply only to openings where your specific status is already supported by the employer.
Prepare a credential evaluation before the offer stage
If your counseling degree is from outside the U.S., obtain a NACES-member credential evaluation before your interview. Woods Services and Pennsylvania licensing boards both require proof that your foreign degree is equivalent to a U.S. master's in counseling or a related field.

Find Mental Health Counseling at Woods Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Woods Services sponsor H-1B visas for Mental Health Counselors?
Yes, Woods Services has sponsored H-1B visas for Mental Health Counseling roles. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October start, timing your offer relative to that window matters. If you already hold H-1B status with another employer, a transfer petition can begin as soon as you receive an offer, without waiting for the next cap cycle.
How do I apply for Mental Health Counseling jobs at Woods Services?
Applications go through the Woods Services careers portal on their official website. Search by job title or location and filter for clinical or behavioral health openings. Migrate Mate also aggregates these listings and lets you filter specifically for roles where visa sponsorship is available, which saves time if you need to confirm sponsorship support before applying.
Which visa types does Woods Services support for Mental Health Counseling positions?
Woods Services has sponsored H-1B visas and has worked with candidates on F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for Mental Health Counseling roles. TN status is also supported for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying counseling classifications. The right visa type depends on your nationality, degree, and where you are in the authorization process when you receive an offer.
What qualifications does Woods Services expect for Mental Health Counseling roles?
Most positions require a master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related behavioral health field, along with a Pennsylvania state license or active pursuit of one. Woods Services specifically serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, so clinical experience with that population or with co-occurring mental health conditions carries significant weight during the hiring process.
How do I plan my timeline if I need visa sponsorship from Woods Services?
Start the conversation about sponsorship during your first interview, not after the offer. If you're on OPT, calculate your expiration date and cap-gap eligibility before accepting. For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS requires the petition to be filed well ahead of your intended start date. Building at least three to four months of lead time into your job search prevents authorization gaps.
