Verify Your Licensure Transfers Across States
RHA operates in several states with different LPC and LCSW licensure requirements. Before applying, confirm your foreign credentials have been evaluated by a NACES-approved service and check whether the specific state RHA is hiring in accepts your credential pathway.
Target Roles Tied to Underserved Communities
RHA's hiring is concentrated in behavioral health programs serving underserved populations, which strengthens the EB-2 National Interest Waiver case. Positions tied to these communities carry a more defensible sponsorship argument when USCIS evaluates labor market need.
Ask About PERM Timelines During the Offer Stage
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship requires a DOL PERM labor certification, which typically takes 12 to 18 months before the immigrant visa petition can be filed. Clarify upfront whether RHA initiates PERM concurrent with your start date or after a qualifying period.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Active RHA Openings
RHA posts Mental Health Counseling roles across multiple states at different times. Use Migrate Mate to filter for current RHA openings that explicitly list visa sponsorship, so you're applying to positions where the pathway is already confirmed rather than asking cold.
Prepare a Supervision Hours Summary Before Interviewing
Many RHA counseling roles require documented supervised clinical hours toward full licensure. Compile a clear summary of your hours, supervisor credentials, and applicable state board standards so hiring managers can quickly assess your status in the licensure pipeline.
Understand the Cap-Exempt Advantage for Nonprofit Healthcare
If RHA is operating as or affiliating with a nonprofit healthcare entity, H-1B petitions filed through that entity may be cap-exempt, meaning you can be filed at any time of year rather than waiting for the annual April lottery window. Confirm the entity type with the recruiter directly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does RHA Health Services sponsor H-1B visas for Mental Health Counselors?
RHA Health Services has sponsored employment-based visas for clinical roles including Mental Health Counseling positions. Whether a specific opening includes H-1B visa sponsorship depends on the hiring entity's nonprofit or for-profit status, which affects cap-exempt eligibility. Ask the recruiter directly which legal entity the role sits under, as this determines both the visa pathway and filing timeline.
Which visa types are commonly used for Mental Health Counseling roles at RHA Health Services?
Mental Health Counseling positions at RHA most commonly involve EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which leads to a Green Card. H-1B sponsorship is possible where the role qualifies as a specialty occupation and the hiring entity has cap-exempt status. The right pathway depends on your degree level, licensure stage, and the specific program you're joining.
What qualifications and experience does RHA Health Services expect for Mental Health Counseling roles?
Most RHA Mental Health Counseling roles require at minimum a master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related clinical field. State licensure or active progress toward licensure, such as accumulating supervised hours toward an LPC or LCSW credential, is typically required. Experience in community mental health, behavioral health, or working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is frequently preferred given RHA's program focus.
How do I apply for Mental Health Counseling jobs at RHA Health Services?
You can browse and apply for RHA Mental Health Counseling openings directly through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles with confirmed visa sponsorship so you're not wasting time on positions that won't support your immigration needs. When you apply, tailor your resume to highlight clinical supervision hours, relevant licensure progress, and any experience with underserved or behavioral health populations, as these align closely with RHA's program model.
How do I plan my timeline if RHA Health Services is sponsoring my Green Card through PERM?
PERM labor certification is filed with the DOL and currently takes 12 to 18 months to process before RHA can file your EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa petition with USCIS. Many employers begin PERM only after an initial employment period, often six to twelve months. Factor this into your planning, especially if you're currently on a status with limited remaining authorized stay, and discuss the start date for PERM with RHA's HR or immigration counsel before accepting an offer.
