Verify your licensure transfers across states
Riverside Community Care operates across multiple service areas, so confirm your mental health counseling license is valid or transferable in Massachusetts. Some states require a separate compact agreement or re-examination before an employer can sponsor you.
Align your degree field with the role
USCIS requires a direct connection between your degree and the offered position for H-1B specialty occupation approval. A degree in clinical mental health counseling or social work supports the petition far more cleanly than a general psychology background.
Ask about sponsorship readiness before accepting an offer
Community health organizations sometimes confuse willingness to hire internationally with having an active immigration attorney relationship. Ask your recruiter directly whether Riverside has filed H-1B petitions recently and who handles their immigration counsel.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles faster
Riverside Community Care posts Mental Health Counseling openings across multiple programs, and new positions appear regularly. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for visa-sponsoring roles so you are not manually screening each listing for sponsorship eligibility.
Understand the TN visa option if you are Canadian or Mexican
Licensed counselors and social workers from Canada or Mexico may qualify for TN status, which Riverside can support without a lottery. DOL occupational classifications for counselors are narrow, so confirm your specific job title maps to an eligible TN category before pursuing this path.
Time your application around the H-1B cap registration window
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, Riverside must register you in March for an October start date. Starting conversations in October or November gives the employer enough lead time to engage counsel and prepare the Labor Condition Application with DOL before the window opens.

Does Riverside Community Care sponsor H-1B visas for Mental Health Counselors?
Riverside Community Care does sponsor H-1B visas for Mental Health Counseling positions. Because these roles require a relevant graduate degree and often state licensure, they generally meet the USCIS specialty occupation standard. Sponsorship availability can vary by program and funding source, so confirm directly with the hiring team during the interview process.
How do I apply for Mental Health Counseling jobs at Riverside Community Care?
You can browse and apply for Mental Health Counseling roles at Riverside Community Care through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-sponsoring positions. Roles are posted across multiple programs, so reviewing the job description carefully for licensure requirements and service population focus will help you target the opening that best matches your clinical background.
Which visa types are commonly used for Mental Health Counseling roles at Riverside Community Care?
H-1B is the most common sponsorship path for Mental Health Counseling positions at Riverside. F-1 OPT and CPT are options for international students completing a clinical degree, and J-1 may be available for exchange visitors in supervised training programs. Canadian and Mexican nationals with eligible credentials should also ask about TN status, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely.
What qualifications does Riverside Community Care expect for Mental Health Counseling positions?
Most Mental Health Counseling roles at Riverside require a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling, social work, or a closely related field. Active licensure, such as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT, is typically required or expected within a defined timeframe. Experience working with community-based populations, substance use, or co-occurring disorders is frequently listed as preferred in their postings.
How do I time my application if I need H-1B sponsorship to work at Riverside Community Care?
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, the practical start date is October 1 of each year, which means Riverside must register you during the USCIS lottery window in March. Beginning the hiring conversation in the fall gives the employer time to engage immigration counsel, complete the DOL Labor Condition Application, and meet the registration deadline without rushing the process.
