Verify your licensure transfers across states
Counselor roles at Riverside Community Care often require state-issued licensure such as an LCSW, LPC, or LMHC. Confirm your credentials are valid in Massachusetts before applying, as unlicensed candidates are rarely considered for sponsored positions.
Target postings that list supervision hours
Some Riverside Counselor openings are structured around clinical supervision toward full licensure. These roles are more likely to support F-1 OPT or TN candidates, since the training component strengthens the employer's justification for sponsorship.
Search open Counselor roles through Migrate Mate
Riverside Community Care posts Counselor vacancies across multiple programs simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter active openings by visa type so you can focus only on roles where sponsorship aligns with your current immigration status.
Align your specialty with their service lines
Riverside operates programs in trauma, substance use, early intervention, and developmental disabilities. Framing your resume around a specific service line, rather than general counseling, improves your chances of clearing initial screening for sponsored roles.
Request the LCA before your start date
For H-1B transfers or new filings, USCIS requires a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL before the I-129 petition can be filed. Confirm with Riverside's HR team that the LCA process has started well before your intended first day.
Use your OPT period to document clinical outcomes
If you're working under F-1 OPT before pursuing H-1B sponsorship, build a measurable record of client outcomes and program participation rates. Riverside's H-1B petitions for Counselors benefit from documented specialty occupation evidence tied to your degree field.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Riverside Community Care sponsor H-1B visas for Counselors?
Yes, Riverside Community Care has sponsored H-1B visas for Counselor roles. Because these positions typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related clinical field, they generally meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard. Your degree field should directly correspond to the counseling discipline the role requires, which strengthens the petition.
How do I apply for Counselor jobs at Riverside Community Care?
Applications go through Riverside Community Care's careers portal, where Counselor openings are listed by program and location. Before applying, review the licensure requirements listed in the posting, since many roles specify a particular credential level. Migrate Mate lets you filter Riverside's active Counselor openings by visa type, so you can identify which postings align with your sponsorship eligibility before submitting.
Which visa types does Riverside Community Care commonly use for Counselor roles?
Riverside has worked with H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visa holders for Counselor positions. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates completing their authorized training period, while H-1B is the standard path for longer-term employment. TN visa status can apply if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship and meet the counselor category requirements under USMCA.
What qualifications does Riverside Community Care expect for sponsored Counselor positions?
Most Counselor roles require at minimum a master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a closely related field, along with state licensure or documented progress toward licensure. Riverside's programs in behavioral health, substance use treatment, and developmental services each have specific clinical competency expectations. Experience with a particular population, such as adolescents, adults in recovery, or individuals with disabilities, strengthens your application considerably.
How do I time my application to account for visa processing when targeting Riverside?
If you're pursuing H-1B sponsorship, USCIS cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year with an April 1 filing window, so planning 12 or more months ahead is necessary. For OPT extensions or TN renewals, confirm your current authorization end date and build in enough time for Riverside's internal HR process before your status lapses. The 60-day grace period after employment ends does not extend your work authorization.
