Frame Your Credentials Around Specialty Occupation Standards
Counselor roles can face USCIS scrutiny over whether they meet specialty occupation requirements. Document how your degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field directly applies to the structured wellness or behavioral support work Life Time assigns.
Target Locations With Active Hiring Pipelines
Life Time operates large-format clubs in major metro areas where member demand drives consistent Counselor openings. Prioritize markets like Dallas, Minneapolis, Chicago, and Miami where club density increases your chances of finding an active role with sponsorship attached.
Start OPT Applications Before Your Program Ends
If you're on an F-1 visa, file your OPT application with USCIS up to 90 days before your graduation date. Life Time hires through CPT and OPT, so arriving at the offer stage with authorization already in motion removes a common friction point for hiring managers.
Understand Where Green Card Sponsorship Fits the Timeline
Life Time sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for qualifying roles, which typically requires PERM labor certification through DOL. This process takes time, so confirm during the offer stage whether the specific Counselor position is designated for permanent sponsorship, not just temporary work authorization.
Use Migrate Mate to Identify Open Counselor Roles With Sponsorship
Search Migrate Mate to filter Life Time's Counselor openings by visa type and location. This helps you target listings where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than cold-applying and discovering sponsorship limitations after an offer is extended.
Ask About I-9 and E-Verify Timing Before Accepting an Offer
Life Time uses E-Verify, so your work authorization must be active and verifiable on day one. Confirm with the hiring team that your OPT start date, STEM extension timeline, or sponsored petition aligns with your expected first day before signing any offer.

Does Life Time sponsor H-1B visas for Counselors?
Life Time's documented sponsorship activity for Counselor roles centers on employment-based Green Card categories like EB-2 and EB-3, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for students in qualifying programs. H-1B sponsorship for Counselor positions is less common, in part because establishing the role as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards can be challenging without a directly related advanced degree requirement built into the job.
Which visa types are commonly used for Counselor roles at Life Time?
F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT are the most accessible entry points for international candidates pursuing Counselor roles at Life Time, particularly for graduates in counseling, psychology, kinesiology, or social work programs. For candidates seeking longer-term authorization, Life Time has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, which require PERM labor certification through DOL before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
What qualifications does Life Time typically expect for Counselor positions?
Life Time generally looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in a field directly relevant to the counseling function, such as psychology, social work, exercise science, or health coaching. Practical experience in a wellness, fitness, or behavioral health setting strengthens your application significantly. Certifications relevant to the specific Counselor track, whether personal wellness, youth programming, or behavioral support, also factor into hiring decisions across their club network.
How do I apply for Counselor jobs at Life Time?
You can browse open Counselor positions at Life Time directly through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can identify roles where international candidates are actively considered. Apply with a resume that highlights your degree field, relevant certifications, and any direct experience in fitness, wellness, or counseling environments. Life Time's club-level hiring managers are often the decision-makers, so tailoring your application to the specific location and programming focus of a given club improves your odds.
How do I time my job search around visa authorization when targeting Life Time?
If you're on F-1 OPT, apply to Life Time Counselor roles at least two to three months before your authorization start date so the offer and onboarding timeline aligns with your valid work period. For EB-3 pathways, PERM labor certification alone can take six months or longer, so having that conversation early in the offer process is essential. Confirm Life Time's E-Verify requirements upfront so there are no last-minute gaps between your authorization status and your start date.
