Target roles that require specialized legal expertise
Eversheds Sutherland's H-1B sponsorship tends to align with specialized legal practice areas rather than general support roles. Focus your search on attorney and counsel positions where a specific area of law expertise, such as corporate, tax, or regulatory, is the core requirement.
Understand that sponsorship decisions are made at the practice group level
At large law firms like Eversheds Sutherland, individual practice group leaders often drive hiring decisions, including whether to sponsor. Research which practice areas are expanding in the U.S. and tailor your application to those groups specifically.
Expect a rigorous credentialing review before sponsorship discussions begin
Law firms assess bar admissions, law school credentials, and jurisdiction eligibility before any sponsorship conversation. Ensure your qualifications are clearly documented and that you've addressed any foreign degree equivalency questions upfront in your application materials.
Network through legal industry channels before applying
Eversheds Sutherland operates in a relationship-driven industry. Connecting with attorneys at the firm through bar associations, legal conferences, or alumni networks can meaningfully increase your chances of reaching decision-makers who can champion your sponsorship internally.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open roles at verified H-1B sponsors in law
Finding law firms with a real sponsorship track record takes research. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by actual sponsorship history, helping you prioritize firms like Eversheds Sutherland that have demonstrated willingness to sponsor in the legal sector.
Plan for a longer hiring timeline than non-legal industries
Law firm hiring cycles are typically slower than tech or finance. If you're targeting an H-1B cap filing deadline, begin your outreach and application process well in advance, ideally months before the April lottery window, to give the firm time to evaluate and commit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Eversheds Sutherland sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Eversheds Sutherland does sponsor H-1B visas for qualifying roles. The firm's sponsorship activity is focused and selective, consistent with how most large law firms approach immigration, supporting hires in specialized legal positions where the right candidate justifies the process. If you're a foreign national attorney or legal professional, H-1B is the primary pathway to pursue.
Which roles at Eversheds Sutherland are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Eversheds Sutherland is most commonly associated with attorney and legal counsel positions in specialized practice areas such as corporate law, tax, financial services regulation, and litigation. Support staff and paralegal roles are far less likely to receive sponsorship. The stronger your practice area expertise and the more active the relevant U.S. practice group, the better your chances.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at Eversheds Sutherland?
The most reliable approach is to monitor Eversheds Sutherland's careers page directly and supplement that with Migrate Mate, which tracks verified H-1B sponsors so you can browse openings at firms with a demonstrated sponsorship history. Because law firm hiring is relationship-driven, combining a direct application with networking through legal industry channels will give you the best coverage.
What is the typical hiring timeline if I'm applying to Eversheds Sutherland for H-1B sponsorship?
Law firm hiring timelines are generally longer than other industries. From initial application to offer, the process can take several months, and once an offer is extended, the H-1B petition must be prepared and filed before USCIS deadlines. If you're targeting an H-1B cap filing, begin your outreach early enough to allow the firm adequate time to vet, hire, and file before the April registration window.
Does Eversheds Sutherland sponsor Green Cards?
Eversheds Sutherland's immigration sponsorship activity is primarily concentrated on H-1B visas. Green Card sponsorship in law firms is less common and typically reserved for long-tenured attorneys on a partnership track. If permanent residency is a longer-term goal, it's worth discussing directly with the firm's HR or general counsel team after establishing yourself in a sponsored role.
