Target clinical informatics and allied health roles
Bassett Healthcare Network's integrated care model creates openings in health informatics, clinical data analysis, and allied health that align well with STEM-designated programs. Search for roles tied to their hospital network and research institute, where OPT EAD holders are regularly brought on.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
Your 24-month STEM OPT extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Verify Bassett Healthcare Network's E-Verify status during the offer stage, not after signing. Ask HR directly so your DSO can authorize the extension without delays or last-minute complications.
Align your resume to specialty occupation standards
If you're targeting an eventual H-1B through Bassett Healthcare Network, frame your OPT role as a specialty occupation from day one. Use O*NET to match your job duties to recognized healthcare occupation codes, which strengthens both your OPT job description and any future H-1B petition.
Use Migrate Mate to identify Bassett's H-1B filing history
Before applying, search Bassett Healthcare Network on Migrate Mate to review its H-1B filing history by role and department. This tells you which positions have a real path beyond OPT and helps you prioritize roles with a proven sponsorship track record at this employer.
Request your OPT authorization letter early from your DSO
Bassett Healthcare Network's HR team will need your EAD and employment authorization details before your start date. Work with your DSO to have your OPT card in hand at least two weeks before onboarding, since healthcare employers often run strict I-9 compliance processes.
Negotiate your start date around OPT approval timelines
USCIS recommends applying for OPT up to 90 days before your program end date, but processing can take several months. When you receive an offer from Bassett Healthcare Network, discuss a start date that gives you a buffer for approval, especially if you're applying for post-completion OPT.
Bassett Healthcare Network OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Bassett Healthcare Network sponsor OPT visas?
Bassett Healthcare Network doesn't sponsor OPT directly. OPT is work authorization granted by USCIS to eligible F-1 students, not something employers file for. What Bassett Healthcare Network does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD, and it's enrolled in E-Verify, which makes it eligible to support STEM OPT extensions.
Which departments at Bassett Healthcare Network typically hire OPT students?
OPT students at Bassett Healthcare Network are most commonly placed in clinical informatics, health data analytics, nursing, allied health, and research roles tied to its hospital and research institute operations. Departments that require STEM-adjacent skills, such as biomedical informatics or population health, tend to offer the clearest OPT-to-H-1B pathway.
How do I apply for OPT jobs at Bassett Healthcare Network?
Apply through Bassett Healthcare Network's careers portal and clearly indicate your F-1 OPT status and EAD authorization dates on your application. Contact HR early to confirm E-Verify enrollment and I-9 requirements. Use Migrate Mate to review Bassett's H-1B filing history so you understand which roles are most likely to lead to long-term sponsorship.
How do I know if my role at Bassett Healthcare Network qualifies for a STEM OPT extension?
Your degree must be on the STEM Designated Degree Program List, and your role must be directly related to that degree. Review the O*NET occupation profile for your position to confirm the connection. Your DSO makes the final determination, but documenting how your Bassett Healthcare Network duties tie to your field of study is essential.
Does Bassett Healthcare Network sponsor H-1B visas after OPT?
Bassett Healthcare Network has a history of H-1B filings, particularly for clinical and specialized healthcare roles. OPT is often the starting point for that transition. To confirm whether your specific role has been sponsored before, review Bassett Healthcare Network's filing history by occupation through DOL disclosure data or the USCIS employer database.
How does Bassett Healthcare Network hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Bassett Healthcare Network can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Bassett Healthcare Network's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
