Align your degree to CDW's technical roles
CDW's OPT hires skew heavily toward IT solutions, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise software roles. Cross-reference your degree field against open job postings using O*NET to confirm your occupation code supports an OPT work authorization approval before you apply.
Confirm CDW's E-Verify enrollment before accepting
STEM OPT extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Before signing an offer, verify CDW's enrollment status directly through E-Verify's employer search. Without confirmed enrollment, your 24-month extension authorization isn't valid regardless of your USCIS approval.
Target CDW's solutions and presales engineering teams
CDW's presales, cloud solutions, and technical account management teams consistently recruit candidates from tech degree programs. These roles align well with common OPT-eligible degree fields like computer science, information systems, and electrical engineering, giving your application a stronger department fit.
Search CDW's OPT hiring history on Migrate Mate
Before tailoring your application, use Migrate Mate to review CDW's verified OPT hiring patterns by role and location. Seeing which job titles CDW has historically hired under OPT helps you prioritize postings where your profile matches CDW's actual track record.
Time your application around your OPT start date
CDW's hiring timelines in enterprise tech can run eight to twelve weeks from application to offer. Submit your application at least three months before your OPT EAD start date so your authorization window is active before your expected first day on payroll.
Prepare your OPT documents before the offer stage
CDW's HR onboarding requires your EAD card, I-20 with OPT authorization, and a valid passport. Have all three ready before your background check starts. Delays in document submission can push your start date beyond your authorized employment begin date on your EAD.
CDW OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does CDW sponsor OPT visas?
CDW doesn't sponsor OPT directly. OPT is work authorization USCIS grants to F-1 students. CDW hires students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. What CDW does offer is a structured path to H-1B sponsorship for strong performers, making it a practical employer for students on OPT who want long-term U.S. work authorization.
Which roles at CDW typically hire OPT students?
CDW most commonly hires OPT students into technical roles including cloud solutions, IT infrastructure, software engineering, and presales consulting. Business operations and account management roles also recruit from tech degree programs. Roles requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering align most consistently with CDW's OPT hiring patterns.
How do I navigate the OPT hiring process at CDW?
Apply through CDW's careers portal and flag your OPT status early in the recruiter screen. Bring your EAD, I-20 with OPT authorization, and passport to onboarding. For STEM OPT extension, confirm CDW's E-Verify enrollment status through the E-Verify employer search before your 60-day post-graduation grace period ends.
How do I find current OPT job openings at CDW?
Use Migrate Mate to filter CDW's open roles by OPT eligibility and department. This gives you a view of which active postings align with CDW's historical OPT hiring by job title, so you're applying to roles where your authorization type and degree field match what CDW has actually hired before.
Does CDW transition OPT employees to H-1B sponsorship?
CDW has a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas for employees who started on OPT. The transition isn't guaranteed, but CDW's sponsorship of H-1B and employment-based Green Cards signals a structured immigration support process. Discussing your visa timeline with your recruiter early helps clarify whether your target role is eligible for H-1B sponsorship.
How does CDW hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. CDW can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check CDW's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
