Align your degree field to clinical roles
Centra Medical Group evaluates OPT candidates on how directly their degree connects to the posted role. Map your major to the specific department, whether health informatics, clinical operations, or medical administration, before applying. A clear degree-to-role match reduces friction during the hiring review.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Ask Centra Medical Group's HR team about their E-Verify status early in the offer stage, not after you've signed. Employers in healthcare often maintain enrollment due to federal contracting requirements, but you should verify directly.
Track your OPT end date against the hiring timeline
Healthcare hiring at Centra Medical Group can move through multiple interview rounds over several weeks. If your OPT EAD expires within 90 days of your target start date, flag this proactively so HR can sequence the onboarding paperwork without creating an authorization gap for you.
Research prevailing wages before salary negotiations
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up wage levels for your target role in Centra Medical Group's location before your offer conversation. Healthcare employers often structure compensation around DOL wage tiers, and arriving with that data lets you negotiate from an informed position rather than guessing at market rate.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified OPT employers
Search Migrate Mate to surface healthcare employers with a documented history of hiring international graduates and sponsoring H-1B visas. Filtering by industry and visa type helps you identify which organizations, including medical groups in Centra's space, are actively supporting OPT students rather than just listing open roles.
Prepare your DSO for the training plan requirement
If you're pursuing a STEM OPT extension at Centra Medical Group, USCIS requires a formal training plan completed jointly by you and your employer supervisor. Loop in your DSO at least 90 days before your standard OPT expires so the I-983 form is ready before your application window opens.
Centra Medical Group OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Centra Medical Group sponsor OPT visas?
Centra Medical Group hires F-1 students who already hold an OPT EAD, meaning they're an OPT-compatible employer rather than an OPT sponsor. USCIS grants OPT authorization directly to you as the student. What matters is that Centra Medical Group is willing to hire you on your EAD and, for STEM OPT extensions, is enrolled in E-Verify.
Which departments at Centra Medical Group typically hire OPT students?
Centra Medical Group's healthcare focus creates openings for OPT students in clinical operations, health informatics, medical administration, and allied health roles. Graduates from health sciences, public health, nursing support, and biomedical fields tend to find the strongest alignment. Check current postings and filter by roles that match your degree field directly.
How do I apply for a job at Centra Medical Group on OPT?
Apply through Centra Medical Group's careers portal and disclose your OPT status and EAD expiration date in your application or during the initial screening call. Bring documentation of your EAD and I-20 to any offer stage conversation. You can also use Migrate Mate to identify current openings at healthcare employers with a history of supporting international graduates.
How do I know if Centra Medical Group will support an H-1B sponsorship after OPT?
Ask directly during the offer negotiation stage. Raise the H-1B question before signing, not after onboarding. Healthcare employers with established immigration programs, including groups like Centra Medical Group that already sponsor EB-2 and EB-3 visas, typically have legal counsel familiar with H-1B petitions and are better positioned to evaluate your transition timeline.
What's the typical hiring timeline for OPT candidates at healthcare employers like Centra Medical Group?
Healthcare hiring processes often span four to eight weeks across screening, interviews, and credentialing checks. For OPT candidates, the added step of I-9 verification and EAD review can extend onboarding by a few days. Start your job search at least 90 days before your OPT end date to preserve enough runway for a complete hiring cycle.
How does Centra Medical Group hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Centra Medical Group can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Centra Medical Group's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
