Align your degree to ChenMed's clinical roles
ChenMed's model centers on primary care for underserved seniors, so degrees in public health, health administration, or pre-clinical sciences map directly to open roles. Cross-reference your transcript with the O*NET occupation profile for the role you're targeting before you apply.
Verify E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Confirm ChenMed's enrollment status during the offer stage, not after you've signed. A gap there can cut your authorized work period to 12 months with no extension path.
Search ChenMed's active OPT openings on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employers with verified OPT hiring history, so you're not guessing which ChenMed roles are realistically open to F-1 students. Filter by healthcare and operations to surface positions aligned with your authorization window.
Time your application around your OPT start date
ChenMed's onboarding timelines in healthcare can run four to six weeks from offer to day one. Apply 90 days before your OPT start date so your EAD arrives and your start date aligns, giving HR a clean authorization window to verify through E-Verify.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search data
Healthcare prevailing wages vary significantly by market and role level. Before negotiating your offer, pull the wage level for your job title and ChenMed's metro using the OFLC Wage Search. Employers filing for H-1B later must meet that same wage floor, so your OPT salary sets a baseline.
Ask HR directly about H-1B sponsorship pathways
ChenMed sponsors H-1B visas, but not every OPT hire automatically enters that pipeline. During final-round interviews, ask whether the role has a defined transition track and what the internal timeline looks like, so you're not discovering the answer three months before your OPT expires.
ChenMed OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does ChenMed sponsor OPT visas?
ChenMed doesn't sponsor OPT directly. OPT is work authorization USCIS grants to eligible F-1 students, not a visa the employer files for. What ChenMed does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD. If you have a valid EAD, ChenMed can onboard you without any petition filing on its side.
Which roles at ChenMed typically hire OPT students?
ChenMed's strongest OPT hiring tends to fall in clinical operations, health administration, data analytics, and care coordination. Business operations and technology roles at its corporate offices also regularly bring on F-1 students. Clinical roles tied to licensed practice generally require U.S. licensure in addition to OPT authorization.
How do I start the OPT application process before joining ChenMed?
Your DSO at your university initiates OPT, not ChenMed. You'll request a new I-20 recommending OPT, then file Form I-765 with USCIS up to 90 days before your program end date. Once your EAD arrives and your start date is confirmed, ChenMed completes the E-Verify check on its end.
How long does it take to get hired at ChenMed as an OPT student?
From application to day one, ChenMed's healthcare hiring process typically runs four to six weeks, including background checks and credentialing steps. Factor in USCIS processing time for your EAD, which can run 90 days or more, and plan your application timeline accordingly to avoid a gap between your program end date and your start date.
How do I find OPT-eligible jobs at ChenMed?
Migrate Mate lists ChenMed roles filtered by verified OPT hiring activity, which saves you from applying to positions the company hasn't historically filled with F-1 students. Look for healthcare operations and administrative roles that align with your degree field, and confirm E-Verify enrollment before you accept any offer to protect your STEM OPT eligibility.
How does ChenMed hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. ChenMed can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check ChenMed's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
