Lead a Multidisciplinary Team Delivering Life-Changing Care as an ACT Team Leader
Compass Health is seeking a Team Leader for our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team—a high-impact role guiding a multidisciplinary group of professionals who deliver community-based behavioral health care for individuals with serious mental illness. This full-time, benefit-eligible position offers the opportunity to lead with purpose, ensuring quality service delivery while maintaining a small clinical caseload yourself.

About ACT/ACT TAY/STEPS
ACT (Assertive Community Treatment)/ACT TAY (Assertive Community Treatment for Transitional-Aged Youth)/STEPS (Shape, Teach, Evolve, Prepare, Support) programs are a way of providing many types of service to people with chronic mental health disorders. ACT/STEPS teams provide services directly to people in their community. People who access ACT/STEPS services receive the wrap-around psychiatric services, but within the comfort of their own home and community. ACT/STEPS team members are comprised of professionals in the areas of psychiatry, social work, nursing, substance use disorders, supported employment, and peer support so they have the skills they need to meet the many needs of the people they serve. The ACT/STEPS team provides these services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, each day of the year.
This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a leadership role, values integrated community-based care, and is committed to helping clients live independently and with dignity. If you’re passionate about team development, clinical excellence, and supporting high-need populations, we’d love to meet you.
Key Responsibilities

- Ensure timely screenings, assessments, and service coordination for new and existing clients
- Oversee team meetings, documentation practices, and quality assurance
- Maintain staffing levels and participate in hiring decisions
- Report regularly on program operations, budget adherence, and progress toward strategic goals
- Support a small clinical caseload and model person-centered, recovery-focused care
Requirements, Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Master’s degree in social work or related field required
- At least six months experience working with persons with serious and persistent mental illness required
Licensure/Certification: PLPC, LPC, LMSW or LCSW valid in the state of Missouri required
You’ll Be A Great Fit for This Role if You:

- Believe in person-centered care and empowering individuals to live successfully in their community
- Have experience or interest in co-occurring treatment models, especially those serving families or transitional-aged youth

Target clinical and behavioral health roles
Compass Health Network's core hiring is in behavioral health, counseling, and care coordination. Align your resume to these service lines specifically. OPT students with degrees in psychology, social work, or healthcare administration fit the roles where international hires have historically landed offers.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before applying
Your 24-month STEM OPT extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Verify Compass Health Network's E-Verify status through the E-Verify employer search before accepting an offer, so you're not caught short when your initial 12 months expire.
Use Migrate Mate to research OPT-friendly roles
Search Compass Health Network's filing history on Migrate Mate before you apply. You'll see which job titles and departments have supported international hires, helping you target your application to the teams most likely to move forward with an OPT student.
Negotiate your start date around EAD timing
Your OPT EAD from USCIS can take two to three months to arrive after your DSO submits the recommendation in SEVIS. Build that lead time into conversations with Compass Health Network's recruiters early, so your start date lands after your EAD is in hand.
Frame your H-1B transition potential clearly
Compass Health Network sponsors H-1B visas, so position yourself as a long-term investment from the first interview. Show hiring managers you understand the OPT-to-H-1B timeline and that transitioning you before your OPT expires requires filing well ahead of the April lottery window.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search data
Healthcare wage levels vary significantly by role and geography in Missouri. Run your occupation and zip code through the OFLC Wage Search before negotiations. Knowing the DOL prevailing wage for your role strengthens your case and helps you avoid accepting an offer below the threshold that could complicate later H-1B sponsorship.
Compass Health Network OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Compass Health Network sponsor OPT visas?
Compass Health Network hires F-1 students who already hold OPT work authorization granted by USCIS. The company doesn't petition for OPT itself, since OPT is your authorization, not theirs. What matters is that Compass Health Network has a track record of hiring international students and sponsoring H-1B visas for employees who transition out of OPT status.
Which roles at Compass Health Network typically hire OPT students?
Compass Health Network focuses on behavioral health, substance use treatment, and community-based care. OPT students with backgrounds in counseling, social work, psychology, healthcare administration, and clinical support have the strongest fit. Roles tied directly to patient care or care coordination tend to align best with the organization's service model and hiring patterns.
How do I start the process of getting hired at Compass Health Network on OPT?
Apply through Compass Health Network's careers portal and disclose your OPT status early in the recruiter screening. Bring your EAD, I-20 with OPT authorization, and SEVIS records to any offer discussion. Use Migrate Mate to identify which departments have hired international candidates before, so you can target your outreach to the right teams.
How do I make sure my STEM OPT extension is supported at Compass Health Network?
Confirm Compass Health Network's active E-Verify enrollment before your initial OPT period ends. STEM OPT extensions require your employer to be E-Verify enrolled and to file a training plan with your DSO. Start that conversation at least 90 days before your EAD expiration, since USCIS recommends filing the extension application at least 90 days in advance.
Does working at Compass Health Network on OPT improve my H-1B sponsorship chances?
Yes, in a practical sense. Employers who sponsor H-1B visas are far more likely to do so for employees they already know and trust. Compass Health Network's H-1B sponsorship history means the infrastructure and willingness exist. Demonstrating strong performance during your OPT period puts you in the best position when the April H-1B registration window opens.
How does Compass Health Network hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Compass Health Network can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Compass Health Network's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
