Target roles tied to your degree
Cone Health's OPT-eligible roles span clinical operations, health informatics, and administrative functions. Match your job applications to positions where your degree field directly aligns, since USCIS requires your OPT employment to be related to your major field of study.
Verify Cone Health's E-Verify enrollment early
If you plan to apply for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify. Confirm Cone Health's enrollment status before accepting an offer, since this requirement is non-negotiable and affects your ability to extend authorization beyond the initial 12 months.
Lead your application with clinical or technical credentials
Healthcare employers like Cone Health screen heavily on licensure and certification before visa status. Front-load your resume with relevant credentials, clinical rotations, and any state licensure you hold, so recruiters see your professional qualifications before they consider your authorization timeline.
Search Cone Health's verified OPT jobs on Migrate Mate
Finding roles at healthcare employers that have a track record of hiring international talent takes more than a keyword search. Migrate Mate filters Cone Health's open positions by OPT compatibility, saving you the step of manually vetting each listing for sponsorship history and work authorization fit.
Raise the H-1B transition conversation at offer stage
Cone Health has sponsored H-1B visas, which means an OPT role can realistically lead to long-term status. Ask your recruiter directly whether the team has supported H-1B transitions before, and confirm the employer's typical timeline relative to the annual April filing deadline.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search data
Before negotiating your offer, look up the prevailing wage for your occupation and geographic area using the OFLC Wage Search. Cone Health, like all H-1B-sponsoring employers, must meet DOL wage standards, so knowing the prevailing rate strengthens your position and flags any offers that fall short.
Cone Health OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cone Health sponsor OPT visas?
Cone Health doesn't sponsor OPT directly. OPT is work authorization granted by USCIS to F-1 students, not a visa that employers file for. What Cone Health does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD, and its history of H-1B sponsorship indicates it's willing to support international employees through longer-term visa pathways as well.
Which departments at Cone Health typically hire OPT students?
OPT students at Cone Health are most commonly placed in clinical roles, health informatics, care coordination, and administrative operations. Allied health positions and roles tied to healthcare technology also align well with common F-1 degree fields. Your specific eligibility depends on whether your job duties match your declared major field of study under USCIS rules.
How do I confirm my STEM OPT extension is valid at Cone Health?
The 24-month STEM OPT extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify and your role to fall under an approved STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Program code. Verify Cone Health's E-Verify status before accepting an offer. You and your DSO must also complete Form I-983, which documents your training plan and is submitted to your school, not directly to Cone Health.
What's the timeline for transitioning from OPT to H-1B at Cone Health?
H-1B petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, meaning Cone Health would need to commit to sponsoring you by late March at the latest. If you're on standard OPT, coordinate your employment start date and EAD expiration carefully. STEM OPT students have more buffer, but cap-gap rules still require you to be employed before your OPT expires.
How do I find OPT-compatible jobs at Cone Health?
Migrate Mate lists Cone Health positions filtered by sponsorship history and work authorization type, so you're not manually reviewing postings that won't lead anywhere. Focus your applications on roles where your degree field is a direct match, and prepare to demonstrate that connection clearly in your cover letter and interviews, since healthcare hiring managers evaluate it closely.
How does Cone Health hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Cone Health can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Cone Health's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
