Align your degree to clinical roles
Gandara Center fills roles in behavioral health, social work, and counseling, fields where your degree field must directly match the job title. Review O*NET profiles for your occupation to confirm the degree alignment before applying, since a mismatch weakens your candidacy from the start.
Verify E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Confirm Gandara Center's active E-Verify participation before signing an offer letter, your DSO needs that confirmation to approve the I-983 training plan and extend your authorization.
Target licensed clinician support roles first
Gandara Center's hiring patterns favor roles that assist licensed clinicians, case managers, behavioral health technicians, and program coordinators. These positions have a clearer path for OPT students than senior clinical roles requiring state licensure you can't yet obtain on OPT status.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified healthcare OPT employers
Search Migrate Mate to filter healthcare employers with documented H-1B filing histories, which signals genuine willingness to support international employees. Targeting employers with that track record, including Gandara Center, reduces the risk of accepting an offer from a company that won't support your transition past OPT.
Start the H-1B conversation during OPT onboarding
Gandara Center has sponsored H-1B visas, so raise the transition timeline early, not at the 90-day mark. Because H-1B cap registration opens each March for an October 1 start date, your OPT end date must leave enough runway for at least one registration cycle.
Benchmark your salary against DOL prevailing wage data
Before negotiating your offer, look up your job title and location in the OFLC Wage Search to find the Level I and Level II prevailing wages. Accepting below prevailing wage can complicate a future H-1B petition, since USCIS requires the offered wage to meet that threshold.
Gandara Center OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Gandara Center sponsor OPT visas?
Gandara Center doesn't sponsor OPT itself, USCIS grants OPT authorization directly to F-1 students, not through the employer. What Gandara Center does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD. Its history of H-1B sponsorship indicates it actively supports international employees and is comfortable with work authorization requirements.
Which roles at Gandara Center are most accessible for OPT students?
Behavioral health technician, case manager, program coordinator, and administrative support roles within mental health and community services programs are the most accessible entry points for OPT students. These positions don't require state licensure, which OPT students often can't obtain during their authorization window, and they align well with degrees in psychology, social work, and public health.
How do I confirm Gandara Center supports STEM OPT extensions?
STEM OPT requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Ask Gandara Center's HR team directly for their E-Verify Company ID before accepting an offer. Your DSO needs that number to process the I-983 training plan. Don't assume enrollment, confirm it in writing before your authorization end date creates urgency.
How do I find OPT-eligible jobs at Gandara Center through Migrate Mate?
Migrate Mate lets you search Gandara Center and similar healthcare employers filtered by visa sponsorship history. Because OPT doesn't require employer petitions, focus on employers with strong H-1B filing records as a proxy for sponsorship willingness. That history signals Gandara Center understands and actively manages international employee work authorization.
How do I position myself for an H-1B sponsorship after OPT at Gandara Center?
Demonstrate clinical value in your OPT role and raise the H-1B timeline with your supervisor before the March cap registration window. Gandara Center's existing H-1B sponsorship history means the internal process isn't new to HR. Give them at least six months of lead time so USCIS filing prep doesn't conflict with your OPT end date.
How does Gandara Center hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Gandara Center can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Gandara Center's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
