Target clinical roles matching your degree
H2 Health's core hiring is in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology. Before applying, confirm your degree field aligns with the specific clinical role, since OPT authorization is tied to your major and USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree and your job duties.
Verify E-Verify enrollment before accepting STEM OPT
If you're on a STEM-eligible degree and planning a 24-month extension, confirm H2 Health's active E-Verify enrollment before signing an offer. Employers must be enrolled before your STEM OPT start date, and joining a clinic location not yet enrolled delays your extension eligibility.
Ask HR about the H-1B transition timeline upfront
H2 Health has an established H-1B filing history in healthcare occupations. During your offer negotiation, ask HR directly whether your role falls within their sponsored positions and what their internal deadline is for submitting H-1B registrations, since the USCIS lottery opens each March for October starts.
Benchmark your salary against prevailing wage data
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up prevailing wages for your occupation code and the specific metro where your H2 Health clinic is located. Arriving at your offer discussion knowing the DOL wage level for your role prevents underpayment and strengthens your case for H-1B sponsorship later.
Use Migrate Mate to identify H2 Health's filing history
Search H2 Health on Migrate Mate to review which job titles and clinic locations have active H-1B LCA filings. This tells you where the company has committed to sponsoring workers before, so you can prioritize applying to those specific roles and regions rather than assuming all positions lead to sponsorship.
Submit credentialing documents before your OPT start date
Healthcare employers like H2 Health require state licensure or provisional licensure before you can treat patients. Start your state board application immediately after graduation, since credentialing delays can push your actual start date past your OPT begin date and reduce your authorized work window.
H2 Health OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does H2 Health sponsor OPT visas?
H2 Health doesn't sponsor OPT itself. OPT is work authorization USCIS grants directly to F-1 students. What H2 Health does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD, particularly in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology roles. The company's H-1B filing history also indicates a pathway for OPT employees to transition into long-term sponsorship.
Which departments or roles at H2 Health are most accessible for OPT students?
H2 Health's outpatient rehabilitation clinics are the primary entry point for OPT students. Physical therapist, occupational therapist, and speech-language pathologist positions align directly with the clinical degree requirements that OPT authorization is built around. Administrative and billing roles exist but are less commonly tied to the clinical licensure pathways H2 Health recruits for.
How do I confirm H2 Health is enrolled in E-Verify for my STEM OPT extension?
You can verify E-Verify enrollment by asking H2 Health's HR team directly for their E-Verify company ID or by checking the E-Verify employer database. Enrollment must be active before your STEM OPT extension begins. If the specific clinic location you're joining isn't enrolled, your 24-month extension cannot start until enrollment is confirmed.
What is the typical timeline for H2 Health to move an OPT employee to H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at H2 Health follows the USCIS annual cap cycle, meaning your employer must register you in the lottery each March for an October 1 start date. Most employees working through OPT use Migrate Mate or work with their HR team to confirm whether their role qualifies and whether H2 Health intends to file before the registration window opens.
How do I approach the OPT-to-H-1B conversation with H2 Health during the hiring process?
Raise H-1B sponsorship intentions during the offer stage, not after you've started. Ask HR which roles in your clinic location have been sponsored previously and what the internal process looks like. Reviewing H2 Health's LCA filing history by occupation and location on Migrate Mate before this conversation gives you concrete data to reference and shows you've done your research.
How does H2 Health hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. H2 Health can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check H2 Health's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
