Align your degree to Intuit's roles
Intuit's OPT hires cluster in engineering, data, and finance. Before applying, confirm your degree field directly supports the job description's core responsibilities. A mismatch between your major and the role's specialty occupation definition can jeopardize your STEM OPT extension eligibility later.
Confirm Intuit's E-Verify enrollment early
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Intuit meets this requirement, but verify it at the hiring stage, not after you accept an offer. Your DSO needs confirmed E-Verify enrollment before they can recommend your STEM OPT extension to USCIS.
Target Intuit's internship pipeline strategically
Many of Intuit's full-time OPT hires come through its internship programs in software engineering and data science. Converting an internship to a full-time offer is one of the most reliable paths to OPT employment there, especially for roles where active H-1B sponsorship follows.
Search Intuit's verified OPT job history on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to review Intuit's historical OPT-compatible job filings by role and department. This lets you target teams with the strongest track record of hiring international students rather than applying broadly and hoping a recruiter flags your authorization type correctly.
Prepare your OPT EAD before Intuit's onboarding
Intuit's HR onboarding requires valid work authorization on day one. Apply for your OPT EAD through your DSO at least 90 days before your intended start date. USCIS processing typically runs several weeks, and delays can push back your Intuit start date or void an offer.
Raise the H-1B transition conversation during offer negotiation
Intuit has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for employees who joined on OPT. Ask your recruiter directly whether your role is eligible for H-1B sponsorship before signing. Getting written clarity on the transition path protects you when the April H-1B registration window opens.
Intuit OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Intuit sponsor OPT visas?
Intuit doesn't sponsor OPT itself. OPT is work authorization USCIS grants directly to F-1 students. What Intuit does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. Intuit is enrolled in E-Verify, which means it also qualifies as an employer for the 24-month STEM OPT extension.
Which departments at Intuit typically hire OPT students?
Intuit's strongest OPT hiring concentrates in software engineering, data science, machine learning, and product management. Finance and analytics roles are also common entry points for F-1 students with quantitative degrees. These teams align well with STEM-designated fields, supporting both initial OPT and the subsequent STEM extension.
How do I find OPT-eligible roles at Intuit?
Use Migrate Mate to filter for Intuit roles with OPT-compatible hiring history. On Intuit's careers page, filter by job type and look for roles requiring a degree in a STEM field. Cross-reference the job's core duties against your degree using O*NET to confirm the specialty occupation alignment before applying.
How do I time my OPT start date with an Intuit offer?
Coordinate your OPT EAD start date closely with Intuit's onboarding timeline. Your DSO can request a specific start date, but USCIS must receive your application no earlier than 90 days before your program end date. Start the process as early as possible to avoid a gap between your offer letter date and your authorized work start date.
Does Intuit sponsor H-1B visas after OPT?
Yes, Intuit sponsors H-1B visas for eligible employees, including those who joined on OPT. The H-1B lottery registration opens every April for an October 1 start date. Clarify your role's H-1B eligibility during the hiring process so both you and your manager can plan around the registration window in advance.
How does Intuit hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Intuit can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Intuit's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
