Target clinical and operations roles first
MyEyeDr. fills the most OPT-compatible roles in optometry support, practice operations, and healthcare administration. Applying to these teams puts you in front of hiring managers who already understand F-1 work authorization timelines and EAD requirements.
Verify your EAD start date before accepting
Your OPT EAD must be valid before your first day of work at MyEyeDr. USCIS does not allow early starts, even by a day. Confirm your card's start date against your offered start date before signing anything.
Confirm MyEyeDr. is enrolled in E-Verify
If you plan to apply for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify at the time of filing. Ask MyEyeDr.'s HR team to confirm enrollment before your initial OPT expires to protect your extension eligibility.
Research MyEyeDr.'s H-1B filing history on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to review MyEyeDr.'s H-1B Labor Condition Application history by job title and location. This tells you which roles they've sponsored before and whether your target position has a realistic path from OPT to H-1B once your authorization period ends.
Frame your degree in healthcare terms
MyEyeDr. operates in a licensed clinical environment. When applying, connect your degree to patient care workflows, healthcare compliance, or practice management, not just technical skills. Hiring managers in this industry respond to candidates who understand the regulatory side of healthcare operations.
Raise H-1B sponsorship before you accept the offer
Don't wait until your OPT is expiring to ask about H-1B. Bring it up during the offer stage, before you sign. Ask directly whether the role has been sponsored under H-1B before and whether the company works with immigration counsel for those transitions.
MyEyeDr. OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does MyEyeDr. sponsor OPT visas?
MyEyeDr. does not sponsor OPT itself. OPT is work authorization that USCIS grants directly to F-1 students, not something employers petition for. What MyEyeDr. does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. For STEM OPT extensions, MyEyeDr. would need to be enrolled in E-Verify and sign your I-983 training plan.
Which roles at MyEyeDr. are most accessible for OPT students?
OPT students typically find the strongest fit in optometry support, healthcare administration, practice operations, and clinical coordination roles. These positions align well with healthcare-related degrees and involve the kind of structured, supervised work that satisfies OPT's practical training requirement under USCIS guidelines.
How do I know if MyEyeDr. will sponsor my H-1B after OPT?
Review MyEyeDr.'s Labor Condition Application history through Migrate Mate to see which job titles and locations they've sponsored under H-1B. Roles with prior H-1B filings are the strongest indicators of sponsorship willingness. Ask directly during the hiring process whether the specific position has an H-1B sponsorship path.
How do I start the job application process at MyEyeDr. as an OPT student?
Apply through MyEyeDr.'s careers page and disclose your OPT status during the screening stage. Bring your EAD start and end dates to any offer conversation. If you're eligible for the STEM OPT extension, confirm that MyEyeDr. is enrolled in E-Verify before your initial 12-month OPT period ends.
What should I ask MyEyeDr. HR about OPT before accepting a job offer?
Ask whether the team has hired OPT students before, whether the company is enrolled in E-Verify, and whether the role has previously been sponsored for H-1B. Getting clear answers on all three before you accept protects you from authorization gaps and sets realistic expectations for your long-term path at the company.
How does MyEyeDr. hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. MyEyeDr. can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check MyEyeDr.'s individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
