Align your degree to oncology operations roles
OneOncology's hiring spans clinical data management, health informatics, and operations analytics. Map your degree field directly to a posted role before applying, a mismatch between your major and the job description weakens your OPT eligibility and reduces your chances of clearing HR screening.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Before signing with OneOncology, verify their enrollment status through the E-Verify employer search. A company not listed cannot support your STEM extension, regardless of what a recruiter tells you.
Target roles with recurring OPT hiring patterns
Focus your search on OneOncology's clinical informatics, revenue cycle, and practice operations teams, where analytical and data-oriented roles have historically attracted OPT candidates. Applying to functions with no prior OPT hiring history means slower internal approval and higher screening risk.
Use Migrate Mate to research OneOncology's visa history
Before reaching out to recruiters, search OneOncology on Migrate Mate to review their H-1B and visa sponsorship track record by role. This tells you which job titles have cleared immigration review before, giving you a concrete angle for your application and recruiter conversations.
Request an OPT start date that matches your EAD
Your OPT EAD controls when you can legally begin work, not your offer letter date. When negotiating your start date with OneOncology's HR team, confirm it falls on or after your EAD start date. Starting early, even by one day, violates your F-1 status terms under USCIS rules.
Build a transition case for H-1B sponsorship early
OPT authorization lasts a maximum of 12 months for non-STEM fields. If your role at OneOncology qualifies under a STEM-designated classification, confirm it through O*NET during the offer stage. Documenting your specialty occupation credentials now strengthens any future H-1B petition your employer files.
OneOncology OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does OneOncology sponsor OPT visas?
OneOncology hires F-1 students who already hold a valid OPT EAD. The company does not file a petition for OPT itself, as USCIS grants OPT authorization directly to the student. OneOncology's role is to hire you and, if your position qualifies under a STEM-designated classification, support your STEM OPT extension by maintaining E-Verify enrollment.
Which departments at OneOncology typically hire OPT students?
OPT candidates at OneOncology most commonly find traction in clinical data, health informatics, revenue cycle management, and practice operations. These functions involve analytical and technology-adjacent work that aligns with STEM-designated degree fields, making them stronger candidates for both initial OPT hiring and the 24-month STEM extension.
How do I start the OPT work authorization process when joining OneOncology?
You apply for OPT through your DSO and USCIS before your program end date, independently of OneOncology. Once you receive your EAD, you present it to OneOncology's HR team to complete I-9 verification. USCIS recommends applying at least 90 days before your intended start date to avoid gaps in authorization.
How do I know if my role at OneOncology qualifies for STEM OPT extension?
Check your job title against the STEM OPT designated degree list published by USCIS and cross-reference your occupation code through O*NET. Your DSO must also approve the extension. Use Migrate Mate to review whether similar roles at OneOncology have supported STEM OPT extensions in the past, which can inform your conversation with HR.
What is the typical timeline for starting work on OPT at OneOncology?
USCIS processing for an initial OPT EAD typically runs three to five months from application receipt. You cannot begin work at OneOncology until your EAD is in hand and the start date printed on it has arrived. Coordinate your offer acceptance and start date with this timeline to avoid unauthorized employment, which carries serious F-1 status consequences.
How does OneOncology hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. OneOncology can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check OneOncology's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
