Align your degree to Palantir's core roles
Palantir's OPT hires cluster in software engineering, data science, and forward-deployed engineering. Before applying, confirm your degree field directly supports the role you're targeting, since USCIS requires OPT employment to relate to your major area of study.
Verify E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
STEM OPT's 24-month extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Palantir Technologies is enrolled, but always confirm this with your recruiter or DSO before your initial OPT EAD expires, so your 60-day application window doesn't catch you off guard.
Research prevailing wages for your target role
When negotiating offers at Palantir, use the OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your salary against the prevailing wage for your job title and location. Palantir's H-1B filings show consistently high wages, so knowing the floor strengthens your offer negotiation as an OPT candidate.
Signal H-1B sponsorship intent early in interviews
Palantir sponsors H-1B for OPT employees, but you should raise the OPT-to-H-1B transition explicitly during the offer stage, not after signing. Recruiters at mission-critical tech firms expect this conversation and can confirm the company's standard sponsorship process upfront.
Use Migrate Mate to identify Palantir's filing history
Before your interview, use Migrate Mate to review Palantir's LCA and H-1B filing history by role and location. This tells you which job titles Palantir has sponsored most consistently, so you can position your background against the roles with the strongest sponsorship track record.
Prepare your I-983 training plan before your offer letter
For the STEM OPT extension, your employer must co-sign Form I-983, which details your training objectives and how the role applies your degree. Draft the learning objectives section yourself before onboarding at Palantir so your DSO can process the extension without delays.
Palantir Technologies OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Palantir Technologies sponsor OPT visas?
Palantir Technologies doesn't sponsor OPT directly, since OPT is work authorization USCIS grants to F-1 students, not a visa employers petition for. What Palantir does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD. Palantir is also enrolled in E-Verify, which makes it eligible to support STEM OPT 24-month extensions for qualifying employees.
Which roles at Palantir Technologies typically hire OPT students?
Palantir's OPT hiring concentrates in software engineering, data science, and forward-deployed engineering roles. These positions align closely with STEM degrees in computer science, mathematics, and related fields. Product and business-facing roles exist but are less commonly filled through OPT, since USCIS requires the job to relate directly to your major.
How do I apply for OPT jobs at Palantir Technologies?
Apply through Palantir's careers page and disclose your OPT authorization status during the application or early screening stage. Palantir's recruiting process for technical roles typically includes coding assessments and multiple engineering interviews. Your OPT EAD must already be approved or in process before your start date, so coordinate timing with your DSO carefully.
Does Palantir Technologies sponsor H-1B after OPT ends?
Palantir Technologies has a consistent record of sponsoring H-1B visas for employees transitioning off OPT. You can review Palantir's historical H-1B LCA filings by role and office location using Migrate Mate, which surfaces the job titles and locations Palantir has sponsored most frequently. Raise H-1B sponsorship during the offer stage, not after you've signed.
What is the timeline for OPT at Palantir Technologies?
Your OPT EAD authorizes up to 12 months of employment. USCIS recommends filing your OPT application at least 90 days before your program end date to avoid gaps. If your role at Palantir qualifies under a STEM-designated CIP code, you can apply for the 24-month STEM OPT extension up to 90 days before your initial OPT expires.
How does Palantir Technologies hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Palantir Technologies can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Palantir Technologies's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
