Align your credentials with Prime's clinical needs
Prime Healthcare Services operates acute-care hospitals, so roles in nursing, health informatics, and medical imaging tend to have the most active hiring. Match your degree field to a specific clinical or technical function before applying, not just to a broad department label.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before your STEM extension
If you're planning to apply for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify at the time of your request. Verify Prime Healthcare Services's E-Verify status through the E-Verify employer search tool before you accept an offer.
Time your OPT start date to the job's actual start
You can request your OPT start date up to 90 days before your program end date, but any day your EAD is valid and you're not employed counts against your 12-month authorization. Coordinate your offer letter start date with your DSO before requesting the EAD from USCIS.
Target roles with documented H-1B transition history
Use Migrate Mate to filter Prime Healthcare Services's DOL Labor Condition Application filing history by occupation code, so you can see which specific roles the company has sponsored for H-1B. Applying into those job families improves your chances of an OPT-to-H-1B transition.
Research prevailing wage expectations before negotiating
Prime Healthcare Services's LCA filings are tied to DOL prevailing wage levels for each role and location. Run an OFLC Wage Search for your occupation and the specific California or other state market where the role is posted before salary discussions start.
Flag your STEM designation early in the interview process
Not every recruiter at a large hospital network knows which degree programs qualify for the 24-month STEM extension. During interviews, identify your degree's CIP code and confirm it's on the STEM OPT designated degree program list published by ICE, so HR can flag it in onboarding.
Prime Healthcare Services OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Prime Healthcare Services sponsor OPT visas?
Prime Healthcare Services hires F-1 students who already hold an OPT EAD issued by USCIS. The company doesn't petition for OPT directly, since OPT authorization comes from USCIS to the student, not from the employer. What Prime Healthcare Services provides is qualifying employment, which is what activates and maintains your OPT status.
Which departments at Prime Healthcare Services typically hire OPT students?
Clinical operations, health information management, medical imaging, and IT infrastructure are the departments at Prime Healthcare Services with the most consistent hiring of international graduates. Allied health and nursing roles are particularly active given the company's acute-care hospital model, though availability varies by facility and region.
How do I find which Prime Healthcare Services roles qualify for STEM OPT?
Cross-reference your degree's CIP code against the STEM designated degree program list published by ICE, then look at Prime Healthcare Services job postings that require that specific degree. You can also check O*NET occupation profiles for roles listed in job postings to see whether the occupation aligns with your STEM-designated field.
How do I know if Prime Healthcare Services will sponsor H-1B after my OPT ends?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Prime Healthcare Services's historical DOL Labor Condition Application filings by occupation and location, showing which roles the company has actively sponsored for H-1B visa. Prioritizing roles in job families with strong LCA filing history is the most reliable way to assess your H-1B transition prospects before accepting an offer.
How do I approach the offer and onboarding process as an OPT student at Prime Healthcare Services?
Once you receive an offer, provide HR with your EAD card, confirm your OPT start and end dates, and flag your STEM eligibility if applicable. Make sure your job duties match the field on your EAD. Your DSO must be notified within ten days of starting employment, and any change in employer or role requires a USCIS update.
How does Prime Healthcare Services hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Prime Healthcare Services can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Prime Healthcare Services's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
