Align your degree to specialty occupation standards
Veeva's technical roles in cloud software and life sciences data require a directly related degree field, not just any STEM credential. Cross-check your degree title against the O*NET occupation profile for your target role before applying to confirm the specialty occupation connection holds.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before your STEM extension
Your 24-month STEM OPT extension requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Verify Veeva Systems's active enrollment status through E-Verify before your initial 12-month OPT expires, since your DSO needs this confirmed to recommend the extension to USCIS.
Target product and engineering teams with H-1B history
Veeva's strongest OPT-to-H-1B pipeline runs through its software development, implementation consulting, and commercial analytics teams. Prioritize roles in those divisions, since managers there are experienced with the transition timeline and won't treat visa continuity as an obstacle in hiring decisions.
Negotiate your start date around EAD card receipt
Your OPT EAD must physically arrive before your first day of work. Build buffer into your offer negotiation so your start date falls at least two weeks after USCIS's estimated processing window closes, protecting you from an unauthorized work situation if the card is delayed.
Use Migrate Mate to verify Veeva's LCA filing history
Before your H-1B registration window opens, use Migrate Mate to review Veeva Systems's Labor Condition Application data by job title and location. That history shows which roles and offices consistently file, so you can position yourself in teams where H-1B sponsorship has a documented track record.
Request a written sponsorship commitment during offer stage
Ask Veeva's recruiting team directly whether the role includes H-1B sponsorship eligibility before you sign. Getting a written confirmation in your offer letter or a follow-up email protects you from a policy change after your OPT window closes and you're already embedded in the role.
Veeva Systems OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Veeva Systems sponsor OPT visas?
Veeva Systems hires students who already hold an OPT EAD, USCIS grants OPT authorization directly to the F-1 student, so Veeva doesn't file a petition for OPT itself. What Veeva does support is employing OPT workers across its technical and commercial teams and sponsoring H-1B visas for eligible employees once the OPT period ends.
Which roles at Veeva Systems typically hire OPT students?
Veeva most commonly hires OPT students into software engineering, implementation consulting, data science, and commercial analytics roles. These positions sit within the company's cloud platform and life sciences verticals, where degree requirements in computer science, information systems, or a related quantitative field align with specialty occupation standards required for future H-1B sponsorship.
How do I apply for OPT jobs at Veeva Systems?
Apply through Veeva's careers page and flag your OPT authorization status in the application. During recruiter screening, confirm the role is eligible for H-1B sponsorship down the line. You can use Migrate Mate to research which Veeva job titles and office locations have the strongest Labor Condition Application filing history before you target specific openings.
How does the OPT-to-H-1B transition work at Veeva Systems?
If you're hired on OPT and your role qualifies, Veeva can sponsor your H-1B during the annual registration window each March. If your STEM OPT extension covers you through the October 1 start date, cap-gap protection under USCIS rules maintains your work authorization continuously between your OPT expiration and your H-1B effective date.
Does Veeva Systems support the STEM OPT extension?
Yes, provided Veeva Systems maintains active E-Verify enrollment, which is required for any employer to support a STEM OPT extension. Your DSO submits the extension recommendation to USCIS after confirming enrollment. You should verify E-Verify status with your HR contact early in your initial OPT period so there are no delays when your 12-month window approaches expiration.
How does Veeva Systems hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Veeva Systems can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Veeva Systems's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
