Frame your HR credentials for manufacturing contexts
Ford's HR teams support unionized plants, skilled trades, and assembly workforces. Tailor your resume to highlight experience with collective bargaining, workforce planning, or HRIS implementation in complex, high-headcount environments rather than general people operations.
Target Ford's labor relations and talent acquisition teams
Ford consistently hires HR business partners and labor relations specialists tied to its North American manufacturing footprint. Roles supporting Michigan and Kentucky facilities tend to have active pipelines, so prioritize job postings tied to those locations over corporate-only functions.
Understand which visa category fits your HR role
Most HR positions at Ford qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B, requiring a degree in human resources, business, or organizational psychology. If you're Australian, the E-3 is a faster path with no lottery. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying HR capacities.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility before the offer stage
Ford uses E-Verify for all hires, so your work authorization status will be confirmed at onboarding. Raise your visa situation with your recruiter once you reach the offer stage, not after signing, to give Ford's immigration team enough lead time to prepare the petition.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open HR roles by visa type
Ford's HR postings vary by sponsorship eligibility depending on seniority and function. Search Migrate Mate to filter Ford's current Human Resources openings by the visa types they support, so you're applying to roles that match your specific authorization pathway.
Account for PERM timelines if you're targeting permanent residence
HR roles at Ford can be sponsored for Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process, but DOL processing currently runs 12 to 18 months before USCIS filing even begins. Factor this into your timeline if you're on OPT or nearing the end of a nonimmigrant status period.

Find Human Resources at Ford Motor Company JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Ford Motor Company sponsor H-1B visas for Human Resourcess?
Yes, Ford Motor Company sponsors H-1B visas for Human Resources roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. HR business partners, compensation analysts, and organizational development specialists typically meet this threshold. Ford's immigration team manages the petition process internally, but you'll need to confirm sponsorship availability with your recruiter for the specific role you're applying to.
How do I apply for Human Resources jobs at Ford Motor Company?
Apply directly through Ford's careers portal at careers.ford.com, where HR roles are listed by function and location. You can also browse Ford's current Human Resources openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify which specific postings are accessible based on your work authorization status before you invest time in applying.
Which visa types does Ford Motor Company commonly use for Human Resources roles?
Ford sponsors H-1B visas for the broadest range of HR positions, including business partners, talent acquisition leads, and compensation specialists. Australian nationals can pursue E-3 sponsorship, which bypasses the H-1B lottery. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under TN for certain HR roles. Ford also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students in HR-related graduate programs, and Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 for longer-tenured employees.
What qualifications does Ford look for in sponsored Human Resources candidates?
Ford typically requires a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, industrial relations, or organizational psychology for sponsored HR roles. For labor relations positions, experience with union environments or collective bargaining agreements is a strong differentiator. Senior HR business partner roles often expect five or more years of experience supporting large, complex organizations, ideally in manufacturing or similarly structured industries.
How do visa sponsorship timelines work for Human Resources roles at Ford?
If you're on F-1 OPT, you can start work while Ford files your H-1B petition ahead of the April 1 USCIS filing window, with a cap-subject start date of October 1. STEM OPT extends your runway by up to 24 months. E-3 and TN sponsorship move faster since they don't involve a lottery and can be processed at a U.S. consulate or port of entry, sometimes within weeks of receiving an offer.
