How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Amgen H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target R&D and scientific roles first
Amgen's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in research, drug development, and laboratory science positions. Focus your applications on roles that align with your technical background in biology, chemistry, bioinformatics, or biomedical engineering to maximize sponsorship eligibility.
Apply well before the H-1B cap deadline
Amgen follows the standard H-1B lottery cycle with an April 1 start date. To be included in the annual cap registration, you need a job offer confirmed by mid-March, so begin your outreach and interviews several months in advance.
Highlight specialized technical expertise
Amgen sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupations requiring a specific degree. Emphasize advanced qualifications in fields like molecular biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or computational biology to demonstrate you meet the specialty occupation standard from the outset.
Connect with Amgen's university recruiting programs
Amgen actively recruits from graduate programs and research universities. If you're completing a PhD or postdoctoral position, reaching out through campus recruiting or scientific conferences can open pathways to H-1B-sponsored roles before positions are publicly listed.
Verify sponsorship history before applying
Not every listing from a large employer comes with guaranteed H-1B support. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you confirm Amgen is actively sponsoring for the specific role you're targeting.
Prepare for a technical and compliance-focused interview process
Amgen's hiring for H-1B roles often involves rigorous scientific assessment alongside HR review of your visa situation. Be ready to discuss your current status, OPT expiration if applicable, and timeline clearly so recruiters can plan the sponsorship process accurately.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Amgen sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Amgen sponsors H-1B visas and has a consistent record of doing so across its U.S. operations. The company regularly files H-1B petitions for roles in research, clinical development, biostatistics, and engineering. Amgen is considered an active H-1B sponsor within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector.
Which roles and departments at Amgen are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Amgen is most common in roles requiring advanced scientific or technical degrees. Research scientists, clinical pharmacologists, biostatisticians, bioinformatics engineers, and process development specialists are among the positions that regularly qualify. Corporate functions like medical affairs and regulatory science also see H-1B sponsorship when the role meets specialty occupation requirements.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Amgen?
Once Amgen extends an offer, their legal and HR teams coordinate the H-1B petition on your behalf through an immigration law firm. You'll provide documentation supporting the specialty occupation determination and your qualifications. Amgen handles the Labor Condition Application filing with the Department of Labor and the I-129 petition submission to USCIS. Your main responsibility is supplying accurate records promptly.
What is the typical H-1B sponsorship timeline at Amgen?
For cap-subject H-1B cases, the timeline runs from lottery registration in March to an October 1 employment start date at the earliest. Amgen typically begins the process shortly after a job offer is accepted, but the lottery outcome introduces inherent uncertainty. For candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer, Amgen can file a transfer petition without waiting for the next lottery cycle.
How do I find H-1B sponsored jobs at Amgen?
Amgen posts open roles on its careers page, but listings rarely specify H-1B sponsorship availability explicitly. Migrate Mate aggregates verified H-1B sponsor data so you can identify Amgen roles where sponsorship has historically been provided, saving time you'd otherwise spend cold-applying and waiting to ask about visa support during recruiter screens.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Amgen?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
