We’re on the search for a Store Manager that will be at the forefront of bringing the fandom to life. You’ll lead the store in achieving store objectives with regards to hitting sales targets, recruiting, development, and performance management. You’ll be a retail maverick that can handle anything that comes your way. You’ll be a believer in developing talent and providing the best customer service in the mall. In short, you’re a superhero.
- Ensure that your store achieves the sales plan and/or comp sales goals. It’s not all about the Benjamins, but then it kind of is
- Recruit, develop, and retain a super collaborative and passionate team to run your store alongside you
- You’re the leader of the band, and you love to create buzz and customer engagement through staying connected on social media, store web applications, and clienteling

- Collaboratively communicate with retail leadership and HQ partners on trends & customer feedback
- Run sales reports and use data to help guide your strategy to hit sales targets
- You’ve got the keys to the kingdom, and you’re not afraid to use them! You’re willing to adapt to new technologies, communicate company policies & procedures, and control supply ownership (spending only as needed)
- Deliver the goods - you’ll merchandise the store in a compelling way, leveraging planograms as a guide, while launching all promos on time
- Every Fellowship needs a Gandalf! Ensure that you’re continually building a bench of equally talented, passionate staff through mentorship, recognition, and feedback
- At least 1-2 years of retail store management experience; you’ve led teams to success and want to experience more of it. You’ll have skills to pay the bills: communication, recruiting, and operations (payroll, reporting, scheduling, merchandising)
- You'll have to be at least 18 years of age to join the fandom force
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent. If you have a degree, even better
- Roll with the punches! Retail is a fast-changing industry and you like catching curveballs thrown your way
- Open-minded and inquisitive regarding pop culture fandoms & trends
- The usual retail stuff (with or without reasonable accommodation): able to navigate your way around the store, merchandise product utilizing approved store equipment, and pack and unpack boxes of awesome merch that may weigh up to 50 pounds

Frame your retail credentials around U.S. equivalency
If your management experience or degree comes from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-accredited evaluator before applying. Hot Topic's EB-2 and EB-3 filings require DOL to verify your qualifications meet the role's stated requirements.
Target stores in active hiring markets first
Hot Topic operates hundreds of mall-based locations, and hiring volume is uneven across regions. Prioritizing stores in high-traffic retail markets where turnover is higher gives your application a realistic shot at reaching a hiring manager with budget to sponsor.
Understand Hot Topic sponsors permanent residence, not H-1B
Branch Manager is a supervisory retail role, not a specialty occupation, so H-1B isn't the right visa category here. Hot Topic's sponsorship track record points to employment-based Green Card pathways, which means longer timelines but a direct path to permanent work authorization.
Prepare for PERM labor certification delays early
EB-3 sponsorship for retail managers typically requires PERM labor certification through the DOL, a process that can take a year or more before USCIS even receives your petition. Start that conversation with your employer as soon as an offer is on the table.
Negotiate sponsorship terms before signing your offer
Large retail chains often have standardized offer letters that don't mention immigration benefits. Confirm in writing which Green Card category Hot Topic will file under, who covers filing fees, and at what point in your tenure the process begins.

Does Hot Topic sponsor H-1B visas for Branch Managers?
No. Branch Manager is a retail supervisory role and does not meet the specialty occupation standard that H-1B requires. Hot Topic's sponsorship activity for this function falls under employment-based permanent residence categories instead. If you need work authorization to take the role, you'll want to discuss Green Card sponsorship directly with the hiring team during the offer stage.
Which visa types does Hot Topic use to sponsor Branch Managers?
Hot Topic's sponsorship for Branch Manager roles is tied to employment-based Green Card pathways, primarily EB-2 and EB-3. EB-3 is the more common route for retail management positions and requires PERM labor certification through the DOL. EB-2 may apply if the role requires an advanced degree or equivalent experience. Neither pathway provides immediate work authorization, so current valid status is a prerequisite.
How do I apply for Branch Manager jobs at Hot Topic?
Browse open Branch Manager positions at Hot Topic on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles specifically tied to employers with a sponsorship track record. When you apply, tailor your resume to Hot Topic's retail environment by emphasizing team size managed, store revenue accountability, and experience with high-volume, mall-based retail. Follow up directly with the district or regional manager where possible, as sponsorship decisions often involve regional leadership, not just HR.
What qualifications does Hot Topic expect for Branch Manager candidates seeking sponsorship?
Hot Topic typically looks for candidates with prior retail store management experience, a demonstrated ability to drive sales in a fast-paced environment, and comfort working within the alternative fashion or pop culture retail space. For Green Card sponsorship, your educational background and work history need to satisfy the DOL's prevailing wage and minimum requirements defined in the PERM application, so having documented credentials helps significantly.
How do I think about the timeline if Hot Topic agrees to sponsor my Green Card?
Expect a multi-year process. PERM labor certification alone can take 12 to 18 months with the DOL before your employer even files the I-140 petition with USCIS. After I-140 approval, your wait for a visa number depends on your country of birth and the applicable priority date. For candidates born in countries without significant backlogs, the full process from offer to Green Card can take two to four years.
