Align your stack to JPMorganChase's architecture
JPMorganChase's backend engineering runs heavily on Java, Python, and distributed systems at financial scale. Tailor your resume to reflect experience with high-throughput APIs, microservices, and fault-tolerant design rather than generic full-stack work.
Target roles within specific technology divisions
JPMorganChase posts Backend Software Developer roles across Corporate Technology, Consumer Banking, and Commercial Banking lines. Roles tied to core banking infrastructure or regulatory reporting systems are more likely to come with established sponsorship workflows than newer product teams.
Confirm sponsorship intent before your first recruiter screen
Ask the recruiter directly whether the specific team is currently filing new H-1B petitions or only supporting transfers. Large financial institutions sometimes pause new sponsorship for certain cost centers mid-cycle without advertising it publicly.
Understand the H-1B transfer timeline for mid-cycle offers
If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, JPMorganChase can file a cap-exempt transfer petition. USCIS portability rules allow you to start work once the petition is received, not after approval, reducing the gap between offer and day one.
Prepare documentation for a specialty occupation determination
JPMorganChase's legal team will need to establish that the Backend Software Developer role meets USCIS specialty occupation standards. Gather transcripts, degree evaluations if your credentials are from outside the U.S., and any documentation linking your specific degree field to the role's technical requirements.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Backend Software Developer roles
JPMorganChase posts Backend Software Developer openings across multiple portals at varying times. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for sponsorship-confirmed backend roles at JPMorganChase so you're applying to positions where international candidates are actively considered.

Find Backend Software Developer at JPMorganChase JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does JPMorganChase sponsor H-1B visas for Backend Software Developers?
Yes, JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for Backend Software Developers. The company has a dedicated immigration team that manages petitions across its technology divisions. Sponsorship availability can vary by team and hiring cycle, so confirming with the recruiter early in the process is the most reliable way to verify that a specific opening is eligible.
Which visa types does JPMorganChase commonly use for Backend Software Developer roles?
JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Backend Software Developer positions, as well as employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 categories. H-1B is the most common path for candidates outside treaty countries. Australian citizens can pursue the E-3, and Singapore and Chile nationals may qualify for the H-1B1, both of which bypass the H-1B lottery.
How do I apply for Backend Software Developer jobs at JPMorganChase?
Applications go through JPMorganChase's careers portal. Search by role and location, and look for postings that include language about visa sponsorship availability. Migrate Mate aggregates JPMorganChase's Backend Software Developer openings filtered for international candidates, which can help you identify the right roles faster and avoid applying to positions that don't support sponsorship.
What qualifications does JPMorganChase expect for Backend Software Developer roles?
Most Backend Software Developer roles at JPMorganChase require a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with Java or Python, distributed systems, and RESTful APIs is standard. Roles in regulated areas like payments or risk technology may also expect familiarity with compliance-adjacent engineering practices such as audit logging and data lineage.
How do I plan my timeline around JPMorganChase's H-1B sponsorship process?
If you need a new H-1B cap-subject petition, USCIS only accepts registrations in March for an October 1 start date. That means an offer in late 2025 or early 2026 would target the following fiscal year unless you're already on H-1B status or qualify for a cap-exempt category. JPMorganChase can use premium processing to reduce USCIS adjudication to 15 business days once a petition is filed, but the cap registration window is fixed.
